Still early but worried

Dear Dr & all,

On 4 Dec, I had protected sex with a CSW. While on bed, I asked if she's clean and she said "Yea, and I never had sex w/o condoms". I was hesitant but in the end we did it. After about 10mins, I pulled out from her and came in the condom. She later used 2 tissues to remove the condom and another to clean me up. I was worried that time, not so much of HIV but regret having an affair with her knowing I love my wife very much. I was working in Dubai by the way.

I left Dubai on 6 Dec, and on 7 Dec, I reached Brunei. 8 Dec, I started to sneeze and minor cough (more like a cold), no headaches, no joint aches, no fewer, nausea or swollen lymph nodes. I read from the internet, some sources said most ppl would get a flu-like illness within days upon contraction with HIV. Is that true? Today is 11 Dec and I'm 95% recovered from the cold. I came across this website [www.hiv.sg/] and further to the phone conversation, they said it is 99% accurate at day 12. They said it's not something they do on the spot, but the blood samples are sent to the lab and results will follow the week after.

I have developed some rashes, but these were there even before I had sex with the CSW. They're caused by ringworm which I had since a school kid. Kindly advise and appreciate your insights. Thank you very much.

Reread her reply. She told you that you didn't have a risk.

Thank you for your replies. It was my first time, I never thought I would do it. By the way, i thought as long as I had a condom on, it would mean 'protected', so the way Lizzie put it, it was not protected after all (?).

One question pls, how much of HIV virus needed to start an infection? (I am not from medical background so I suppose this is the best way I could put it) I learned from some websites that it was not as easy to tick off an infection just like that. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thank you and no further questions.

this is not the doctor's forum.

you stated above that you had protected sex.  as long as the condom did not rupture...you were never at risk.  sounds like that was not the case, since you report that you ejaculated in the condom after you withdrew.

as far as you being sick...it had nothing to do with you having protected sex.

You had protected sex. You were not at risk of contracting HIV.
