As some know I am in a very stressful situation having given a B/J then having symptoms 12 days later. I asked Dr.HHH and he said my symptoms did not suggest HIV
infection. After I received his answer I felt great until I stumbled onto a report by a Dr. that indicated gastrointestinal problems indeed could be apart of ARS. That’s what I had unexplained mild nausea or basically an upset stomach for over 7 days, off and on during each day. No temperature
though which s the ONLY thing keeping me sane.
Do you think one could have an infection with just one symptom? I tough there would be more in ARS. Also I have had basically no TEMP only a slight increase the first night. I am coming up on my sixth week and am really concerned about this test.
. You have been through this before. You know that symptoms mean nothing. You were told from your first exposure that giving a BJ is close to if not a zero risk. This one is same thing. Relax. You know why your stomach is upset. it is anxiety. Relax! relax! relax! The only thing you need to to worry about is not having to say "I have been through this before"
diagnoses that included a patient presenting with primary HIV infection symptoms could decrease the denominator and falsely increase the prevalence estimate. To minimize this potential source of error, all diagnoses possibly construed as viral (Supplemental Tables 1, 2 and 3 (available online only at http://www.annfammed.org/cgi/content/full/3/5/400/DC1) were included in the denominator. Additionally, other diagnoses unlikely to represent viral infections but not entirely inconsistent with primary HIV infection symptoms, such as tension headache, migraine headache, unspecified abdominal pain, and gastroesophageal reflux, were included as well
Can you guys make out what the above means? On one hand it says Gastroesophageal [which is what the Dr. treated me for] is unlikly to be viral BUT is not entirly inconsistent with ARS?
what am I suppose to think with the symptoms I had 2 weeks after my exposure? now my lymp gland are sort of cramping unde both arms. not all the time just but severl times a day. fell just like small cramps
Thanks Teak I reread Dr. post and the encouraging post from others It help me through the day. I am stressed out worse this time. I will never put myself in this position again. Alcohol did it I have had my last drink 5 weeks ago that it for me.
What do you make of the post I cut from a research article. The article was a study about fever and ars. On one hand it make me feel good when they say abdominal pain and acid reflux are unlikely to be viral then they go on to say however they are I guess sometmes part of ARS.
Do you agree that lack of fever is a good sign of not being infected
"Symptoms or the lack of is never indicative of HIV. The only way anyone will know his or her status is by testing"
That's true I guess but certain symptoms during the righ time frame are a good indicator. The problem is there are no clear indicators. I am holding onto the hope that lack of fever during symptoms is an indicator of no infection. In my case my problem is in my digestive system. If a virus attacks usually the whole body reacts i.e. fever. But who knows, as you say and I know only a test will tell. Hoping though, makes the trip to the testing site less stressful.
I respect Dr HHH opinion but somtimes he confuses me. He states symptoms mean nothing but in most of his post he evaluates them as partof his expert opinion.
I guess he takes in the whole story symptoms, risk and other indicators in a limited post and reaches an outcome based on his knowledge in the field. Any thoughts?
I know a test. I also know I will be Positive. I am trying to come to terms with it. just read this I found in a study!! That's exactly what I had,EXACTLY. I am doomed, why did I continue that sick life style?
Additionally, other diagnoses unlikely to represent viral infections but not entirely inconsistent with primary HIV infection symptoms, such as tension headache, migraine headache, unspecified abdominal pain, and gastroesophageal reflux, were included as well
i have been truthfu about my exposure. I really feel I had minimal risk and never though of it until I got sick. If my stomach was sick for a couple of days ok but I had mild nausea for 9 days!! I was not stress nobody is more stressed now than me and I feel fine. My symptoms were simply not standard. I My only hope is I had no fever.
I am hopeless. I am so sad. I am losing it. I held hope with Dr HHH reply but NO,I had to find this damn report on the net. I have ruined my life and there is no way out
I thought you were quite a level head, when I got an opportunity to exchange a few words with you the last time, why are you now talking out of your *** ?
Why don't you try and analyze your risk rationally and in case if you can any how do that you will certainly understand that you did not have a risk to begin with but I completely understand that your rationale has gone for a toss at this point of time since anxiety and stress has been real big over you but we guys here as a spectator can guarantee you that you will fair negative.
Symptoms means nothing, go back to all my previous threads, when I came in here, I came in with a REAL risk (unprotected vaginal), I had all the symptoms the book reads for but I conclusively tested negative. I can tell you from my experience that symptoms means nothing.
I know however this is not just a post it was an excerp from a 2005 study done on ARS. How unlucky for me to stumble on it and what are the damn odds given all that is written about ARS that both of my symptoms would be mentioned together, unspecified abdominal pain, and gastroesophageal reflux. I never ever read a thing about them being a ARS symptom. I had my hopes on the reply from Dr.HHH but now this. Thanks for the help I will need it for I am alone in this dark place.
