contact with her after that (was completely freaked out).I could only contact my Dr.by the 60th hour after exposure and he put me on Viraday(Atripla) as a PEP.The 28 day course got over on the 7th of March. Now,as generally it is believed that PEP does not delay seroconversion,so can a 6 week 4th generation test be taken as conclusive in my case or further testing is warranted. In case a 4th generation test is not available, will a 3rd generation ELISA test do ?
Plz do respond as I'm totally freaked out. That was the first and the last time that I've been so careless and chose to have sex with a sex worker.
The majority of people who get infected seroconvert upto 6 weeks.PEP just reduces the viral load.So if someone is on PEP and has got infected, the ELISA antibody test ought be positive. As far as I know PEP does not affect the formation of antibodies. As far as the CDC guidelines are concerned,I think they're more in keeping with the old 1st and 2nd generation tests. The newer 3rd and 4th generation tests have reduced the window period.Woul appreciate your comments if my knowledge is correct.
3 months from last dose of PEP will give you a conclusive result. That is the recommendation on window period and until that is changed that is what this forum will advise.
