? The answer is, simply: no. It does not frighten me, for a number of reasons.
First, I have been down this road before. I have been the frightened poster who believed that not only was it possible that I might have contracted HIV
), but probably. That was, thankfully, quite some time ago. I have related to you the details of my own story, and the reasons why I've come to a different conclusion, so I will not go into that again. Suffice to say that I am not particularly worried about oral sex
any more. That does not mean I run around performing it on every woman I meet, it just means that when I do, I am not overly concerned about having done so.
Second, I have learned to apply critical reason skills to the things that I read on the Internet, sadmark. It does not profit you to read something and then immediately conclude that it is true. In fact, to do so is probably fairly harmful to your overall mental state. I would not expect you to read anything I have written and take it as the gospel, and you should probably not do so with posts from other anonymous strangers. The deal is this: it is up to you to take all of these conflicting claims and reason your way through them. Do some research, talk to experts, and then decide for yourself how worried you should be. When you ask about oral sex, I am more than happy to share my opinion with you. And then it is incumbent upon you to accept or reject it, but do so in an educated manner. Read up on the subject, take into consideration the source of the material, and then take your decision.
The deal is this: I don't believe oral sex is particularly risky, though if you are concerned, go ahead and get a test. But, remember, you are doing so mainly because you need to see that negative HIV test to feel better about all of this. Your test will be negative.
