Test Results

by bpr123, Jan 11, 2008 08:44PM
All,

Yesterday i had hiv screening (Panel 83824 and RPR). And today the doctor told me that the results are normal. But she told that the HIV Virus will show up only after 6 weeks of exposure.

But i took the test after 34 days. Can i rely on the result or i may test positive later. I am worried. I have been suffering from sore throat from past 4 weeks and muscle aches occasionally.

My risk is protected oral and sexual intercouse with SAME CONDOM.

Thanks
Tony

You describe a non-risk event, and that result is 100% reliable given your risk. Move on,

its with CSW. so there is risk right?
And also sore troat is not leaving me from past 4 weeks?

there are a lot of bugs going around right now w/ sore throat symptoms...it is coincidence.  you practiced safe sex so the risk is almost zero.  look it up on the cdc.gov, the average person will produce detectable antibodies in 25 days.  the docs on from medhelp say that 85% of people will test pos by 1 month.  90-95%+ by 6 wks, around 97-98% by 8wks, and over 99% BY 12/13 wks (3mos).  i think the odds are clearly in ur favor and i would try to relax

There is nothing to add. You were never at risk.

You didn't have a risk to begin with, why would you need further testing?

by Uniquelymen, Mar 05, 2008 09:08PM
Hi there,

Just to reinforce.....

Basing from this account given, you are not in any risk for HIV . You do not need any test at all.

The 11 weeks result said it all.....

To: Hi All
Sorry to bother you again guys!!!
I had my 3 1/2 month ora quick advance test and it came negative. I took it as conclusive and move on.

But after one week, i am having severe Throat Pain and canker sore on my tounge from past 2 days. I started worrying again.

Is there any chance of HIV? Do i need to re-test after some time.

Please advice.

i dont understand the "reasoning" behind your thinking.  why would you ASSUME this is hiv related?  you never had a risk...and you have tested beyond the required guideline.  did you EVER think that it is something else?  do you know how common canker sores are?  and sore throats????

go to the health page link at the top right of this page and read about hiv anxiety.
