Testing Question - Please Help

I like some of you have made a terrible mistake that has taken over my life.  I recieved unprotected fellatio (30-40 Seconds) and protected vaginal from an escort.  The escort was 21 years old - Caucasian.  I am married and have been avoiding wife.  I got tested at the 40.25 day mark for all STDs and HIV and all tests came back negative.  I did not have any ARS symptoms.  I felt relieved momentarily, but after surfing the net and reading posts, I fear that my 40.25 day test was ineffective and that I need at least 42 days.  I am 98% confident that I am OK, but still have doubt.  I would like to avoid retesting because results take a week and the wife may get suspicious.  I would love any advice.  Guys like Sparkler, Xghost, etc. have helped me more than they will ever know.  I have been praying for Russian Roulette...like him I plan on starting a family soon.

I understand your concerns but a 42 day test is pretty conclusive from what I have been reading.  The doc states that he has never seen anyone get hiv after a 4-6 week negative.

Congrats on your step forward to a family.  I am in the same boat and am nervious.  Its funny how sometimes we can get off track in life and do stupid things.  I am happily engaged and I ended up having sex with a sex worker.  Why???  Who knows.  But I am 100% sure that I will never do that again.

I wish you the best with your testing (although, it sounds like it isn't needed).  Try to be a stronger person in the future so that you don't get into this mess again.  Thats my plan.

Much like the post previous to this one, Dr H., who takes questions on the moderated forum, has not seen someone test negative at 4-6 weeks then go on to test positive later on.

Hope this helps somewhat...

Cat,

Given the "risky" (actually, not so risky at all) encounter that you describe, I wouldn't worry about much of anything. Receiving fellatio is, from everything that I have read, not a risk at all for contracting HIV, and neither is protected (which is just that: protected!) sex.

I understand how you are feeling, I really do, because I've been there. If you feel like you need to go get another test to finally put all of this behind you, be my guest - it can't hurt, and may help you get over your anxiety. And that's the most important thing right now, Cat, finding a way to get past this episode and all of the anxiety and misery that accompanies it. Certainly, I do know this: you don't have much if anything to worry about in terms of HIV.

Good luck to you, and take care.

Trust me - it will never happen again for me either.  I cried like a woman for 15 minutes about it before I got my results.
It was the Firss time, I cried in 13 years.  Are you planning on a 6 week test or 12 week for closure?

Does this include high risk activities or just low risk? Or does that apply to both seeing how I've seen it stated by the Dr. and many people on here that most people show anti-bodies within the 6-8 week range and by three months for sure. Just curious.
