Freddy,
I know who you're talking about, playwithmeplz over on aidsmeds.com. He's in the military, says he was in infected in Winter 04 and didn't show up positive till January '05.
What he didn't tell you is that he was also having unprotected sex with his 'long term' partner over the course of the year. She's positive now aswell, with lower cd4 cells than him. Chances are that's how he was infected. It didn't take him a year to seroconvert.
There are some people out there who can't be honest about their risks. It's as simple as that. Queen Askasha said he/she tested negative for five years before testing positive. That simply isn't true. It cannot take that long to seroconvert.
At any rate what are you worrying about? YOu had a PCR, which searches for the VIRUS! It was negative!
Move on. Your beating yourself up over nothing:)
Teak is correct.
You have tested conclusively HIV-. Further testing is not warranted, regardless of symptoms.
Symptoms are NEVER a reliable indicator of HIV infection. Someone ELSE'S symptoms are an even LESS reliable indicator.
Your wife's specific symptoms - fatigue, headache, runny nose, even rash - all indicate a cold, not HIV.
Hi Teak,
Yes I am seeing a counsellor, but it takes time you know.
Every so often something occurs that re-awakens my concerns and it feels like the only action I can take to alleviate these concerns is to test.
This gives me some restbite until the next concern hits me.
I guess I am punishing myself, I don't know.
When you hear anecdotes about someone taking longer than a yesr to seroconvert, although it is unjustified, I give this anecdote more credence than the umteen doctors who have said 3 months is enough.
I am not trying to spam, I just am very ill (emotionally at least)
Thanks,
Fred.
