Testing and subtype... Mike,Amravati boy u need to answer this...

M from India, Pune. I tested at NARI clinic in pune last Feb which came out to be negative. Just wanted to make sure if the Elisa detects all possible subtypes, including C which is more prevalent in India. Also u guyz seem to have good information about the clinics for testing. NARI in pune is good but dere is huge rush there and majority of ppl there are for CD4 count, which freaks out the normal man.

Do u guyz know about any other testing center, a descent one in pune.

Sorry if i m unclear in my previous post ...
Those were two separate incidence.
1) the nurse dint changed the gloves while taking my sample and
2) i kissed my GAL and i have gums which bleed when i brush. Dont know if they were  bleeding when i kissed her.

I know close to zerp risk but the paranoia alwayz get the better of me :)

ELISA tests do not look for the virus directly.

They look for the immune response to the infection (anti body)

It looks for the antibodies for HIV 1 & 2, not any specific virus.

Paranoid, your test was right and you don't need to retest, move on !

Ohh. got ya Mike.. Its the antibodies that are tested not the virus itself. Hmmm .. By the way congrats for ur negative mike.

Thanks Ex for ur response. Actually NARI is also one of not profit making clinic.
That's why the rush.:) So i was looking for another good clinic where i can test my blood without many people waiting in queue's to get tested :)

Literally this is the case at NARI. A queue of ppl to test for CD4 and HIV.
:( :( :( , which is sufficient to freak the already freaked

:):):)

Money doesn't matter the clinic must b good and I shud be able to clear my doubts with a doctor.

i also think he dont need further testing. But he asked about other testing centers that is why i told him about VCTC.

mike: is any confusion in my words in previous reply ? i am asking because you said about detecting virus and all.

Actually m gonna test again this july for an alltogether different issue which mike and teak have cleared me that was a low to no risk exposure(Related to not changing the gloves and a kissing incidence since my gums bleed after i brush.
I spit atleast 5 times before my saliva gets clear from blood.)  And i kissed a girl for approximately 10 minutes which i think was long enough.

Thanks for the concern anywayz...

hi friend,

I am also from india. The same kind of elisa is very much test subtype C. So dont worry.

If you want to test in another center why dont you go to a govt. VCTC. Thire you can test free of cost and you will get realible results as it is a non-profit testing.

Infact your risks are not close to zero. But they are ZERO itself.

Man HIV WONT TRASMIT THAT WAY so dont worry about it.

I dont see any reason to test for that.

Hey paranoid,
The following center at Pune would counsel and do the ELISA HIV test:
BJMC, Pune.
Pune Chest Hospital Aundh, Pune.
AFMC, Pune

also,
have a look at the URL below,  though You would not need this since you are HIV NEGATIVE :-)

1. You can't get HIV from both the incidence, get some real risk next time [;p]

2. Your test was definitive, no retesting required, government facilitated medical houses in India use the 2/3 generation of tests and do take utmost care when running the test.

3. Your fears are irrational, please deal with them instead of retesting (more important).

Paranoid Ease up !

If you have taken an ELISA test you don't have to worry about the subtypes because ELISA is an antibody test which looks for the immune response to the infection (Subtype 1 & 2 generically).

So if you have your Negative under your belt rock Pune tonight !
