Through mucus membranes?

Hi,  Sorry to bother you all, I was quite worried about some exposure the other day but I never actually had intercourse with this person just sexual contact, and I was informed that hiv transmission is possible when hiv infected fluids come into contact with the mucus membranes.  Just a simple question (I think!)... are these based within the vagina itself?
Thank you!
Lucy

Following mucous membranes I know in human body.

1. Rectum
2. Inner Walls of Vagina
3. Opening of the penis
4. Inner of male foreskin.
5. Eyes
6. Mouth

Rest of the body structure is protected by strong wall of skin, impossible for HIV to invade through.
Vaginal outer lips are made of skin not mucus membrane.
