I understand what many of your worriers are going through. You had situation where you think you were exposed; the next day the worry starts setting in; the more days that pass by, the more you start going crazy thinking that you got HIV
a couple of weeks later are 100% unrelated. I hope I can relay a similar message in a few weeks but I highly doubt it. These really are ruining my current (and probably future) quality of life.
I just have one simple quick STD question. I got my result negative result at week 12, but I just want to know that other STDs like Herpes (1 and 2)etc. are life-threatening and can cause permenent damage to immune system like HIV. Please answer..please.
Can one live a healthy long normal life with Herpes 1 and 2?
Herpes is not life threatening...it's merely an inconvenience, that's all. This day in age, HIV is reaching a stage where it's becoming non-life threatening as well, with all the new drugs. Herpes does affect your immune system in the sense that it is a virus, and all viruses battle against the immune system. Also, you're more likely to have outbreaks when your immune system is down...if you have herpes.
If your 12-week negative test included herpes as well, that a 98% indicator that you don't have herpes. I say 98% b/c most sites recommend a 3-4 month Igg test.
This is the last response to your question. Herpes is not as "dangerous" as HIV. Herpes will not weaken your immune system over time as HIV does.
It's the IgM test that is highly unreliable and should not be used. The IgG test is very reliable and there are specific IgG test for Herpes I and Herpes II.
from what I've been reading, herpes is dangerous, cuz it makes it easier for you to get other stds. And you can get herpes just by skin to skin contact. Condoms want help when it comes down to it.
well ofcourse herpes is dangerous when exposed with other things. But the question was its long-term affect and whether it can be dealt with proper treatment, unlike hiv - which is so unpredictable. Hope you realize the fine line here.
HIV has the potential to kill you and herpes does not would be the big difference. But Herpes is still nothing to play with. YOu have to be extra careful. You could still pass it on even if you don't have a sore are feel symptoms of an outbreak.
no....Thank God no...the results say I'm negative, but I am not fully convinced so I am going to go get tested again. I am seriously very nervous about these things so I can't really shake this off.
I've lived in a mess for the past 12 weeks...Such harsh, torturous, painful times; mental exhaustion; neverousness and what not. I can NOT go through this again because I think I'll just go mad or pass out or somethin. I'm taking a break from having sex for sometime...I'd rather do it this way than meeting another A**hole in life again. few min. of pleasure isn't worth wasting life over...what a lesson learnt...my gosh.
I've had herpes 1 since I was a kid, but now I have herpes 2. Some are saying its a false positive cuz it was so low and the herpes 1 was high. So far I've never had anything from it. I could only have gotten it from 1 person, but the Doc said antibodies wouldn't show up in a week, so it appears to be a mystery where my herpes 2 came from. Which is makin me even more nervous about this HIV thing. If this person had Herpes, then whos to say she doesn't have HiV. SHe claims she doesn't have either, but here I am a person that doesn't sleep around. ANd there she is a ho bag that gives it up at the drop of a dime. So who is more likely to have it?
Your situation was protected, so you do have some comfort to rely on don't you? Secondly, I do think your herpes II results could very well be false positive, but you need to check with your doctor and possibly retest for confirmation. It's not likely that you have HIV for sure...HIV is far more sensitive to get (from what everyone tells me; even doctors), than any other STDs. You can definitely and safely rule out HIV since you already tested negative for it, and you used a protection...so that should definitely ease your mind significantly against hiv.
I feel bad how I behaved when the counselors told me I had herpes 1. I cried not knowing what it was. But the past couple of weeks. Thats all I've been doing is googling stds.
I don't trust condoms any longer. I shouldn't have never let this person put it on me. I should have did it myself. I just want my life back to the way it was. If I get through this I'll be gone for good from this board, cuz I'm never having sex with someone until I see some blood test of their results. I just pray I make it out of this situation.
Just as an FYI, about 75% of the population has Herpes I. Most people get it when they're kids. HSVI is not a big deal at all! It's also true that since your HSV2 results aren't very high, it could be a false positive due to your HSV1. Hope it turns out to be negative.
Yeah, but a couple of weeks ago I had no idea what it was. I just flipped out. I'm not really sweating the herpes thing right now. I'm more concerned about an HIV risk that I see as being a significant one, but all of the experts on the board are calling me crazy and saying since I had protected sex it was no risk.
To give the most protection against pregnancy and stds. But there not 100%. I just hope I make it through this.
See, I've never had sex with a *****. The few girls I were with in the past all were nice and educated. I keep thinking back to this girl and there is no telling who has been in that. I'm not just screwing her. I'm screwing everyone she's been with and everyone they've been with. Its probably like a million people.
