To Teak and others.

Hello guys, so i was searching the internet about HIV transmission and everywhere i read it says that HIV can ONLY live for a few minutes outside of its host. I am from Russia and i also searched our websites and no one EVER says that HIV becomes inactive as soon as it's in the air. I know Teak says that the outer shell where the gp120 is gets damaged but why don't any other doctors including the doctors here say anything about the outer shell being damaged? Where do you get this information?

* Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusively negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to action by MedHelp. Conclusively negative results or a no-risk situation will be based upon the criteria established by MedHelp’s doctors. Action will be taken as follows:
    * After excessive posting, a warning will be issued by MedHelp
    * Continuing to post regarding the negative result / no risk situation will result in a 3 day suspension
    * Continuing to post upon your return will result in a permanent ban.

That dear komethere has been my question for the last 6 weeks. I am always told that I had no risk, but I cannot find anything, not a single link where it is clearly explained why the virus can (or not) be non-infectious...

HIV is unable to reproduce outside its living host (unlike many bacteria or fungi, which may do so under suitable conditions), except under laboratory conditions; therefore, it does not spread or maintain infectiousness outside its host.

HIV is transmitted by;
Unprotected penetrative anal and/or vaginal sex
Sharing works with other IV drug abusers
Mother to child

If HIV could survive long periods outside the body most of the world would have it by now.

If it was true wouldn't they just say it? It would of helped alot of people with HIV anxiety. Perhaps they say that HIV cannot infect outside its host because it is only active  only for a few minutes. But what about the exposures that happenn within 1 minute or even less.

Just because they don't say it it doesn't mean it's not true.Anyone that has good knowledge about HIV knows that.

What is the source of information? Even the CDC dosen't say anything about the virus getting damaged as soon as it leaves the body

HIV transmission never occurs outside the body.HIV can't survive once it leaves it's host.The outer layer--not shell--does become damaged as soon as it is exposed to the elements.
