Ulcer in mouth exposure with active escort

Dear Dr.

I just had an encounter with an escort. We had intercourse and she performed oral on me, and these were protected, and I think she normally does that. I did not perform oral sex on her, as I knew I had an ulcer on the side of my mouth very close to my bottom lip (cranker sore, not big,  it's still white, but healing/almost healed as it is no longer painful).

My only concern is that I massaged her virginal (mostly outside and a little bit inside) and put the finger in my mouth afterwards a few times to get more saliva (at that point, the risk of my ulcer didn't cross my mind !). I also kissed her on the mouth for quite a bit. Could you advise on my risk? I want to tell myself I shouldn't be worried that much, but still find myself typing this note...

Thank you very much for your time,

Owen

The exposures you are concerned about are zero risk.  Kissing is no risk, even deep kissing and even with canker sores, gum or dental disease.  Similarly. there is no risk from the possible transfer of her vaginal secretions from her vagina to your both on your finger.  Even if vaginal secretions were transferred, the quoted figure for HIV risk, if one has oral sex with an infected partner is less than 1 in 10,000 and, in my estimation that is too high. Some experts state there is no risk at all from oral sex.  Neither of us on this site have ever seen or reading the medical literature of a convincing instance in which HIV was passed by oral sex.   Your exposure was even lower risk than this.

there is no risk, therefore there is no medical reason for you to seek testing.  I hope these comments help - you have nothing to worry about.  EWH
