Unknown Splash Exposure

Hi there...actually i have a problem..yesterday i inserted a catheter bladder tube to a patient..this patient was diagnosed as CA Lung..he admitted to the emergency department due to severe pain on his chest after undergo pleural tapping.. after inserted the catheter through his penis & comfirmly fixed in his bladder, for sure we need to fill the balloon cuff with sterile water right? then, i try to clean up the outside tube using a gauze after it covered up with anaestetic gel.. suddenly the patient moved & the gel or sterile water i used splash to my eyes...i didnt know what is it actually..but surely the tube already inserted through the urethra..

isn't the chances of getting the transmitted disease is high? in addition, im not sure if the patient have VDRL, HIV or hepatitis viral..please help me..

tq...i hope so...1 night i couldnt sleep coz of the incident...so, splash by blood is the highest chances right? if im not mistaken, urine also contain mikroorganisms..

Working in the medical field, you should be much more aware of what constitutes a risk or not.

Inserting a Foley cathether is not a risk, even if you had been splashed with urine, urine is not infectious.  If you had been sprayed with the saline or gel, that would not be a risk either!
