how would i have not gotten a reading, and i wanted to test for the protected sex incident...

I have had an exposure unprotected and one protected and was tested 3 months after the unprotected and 6 after unprotected using blood test (ELISA) but I wanted to make sure it was definate so i went to a ccommunity clinic where they offered the orasure advance hiv1/2 test...the procedure went as followed, she told me to swab my gums and i did..however i was previously watching a documentary on youtube.com showing that people who take the test need to swab profusely and keep it in their mouth for two minutes...i however did not do that and the results that i recieved was negative after 7 month(unprotected vaginal) and 5month(protected vaginal) sex...

my questions are why are there so many different techniques...by me swabing my gums twice did i provide sufficient cells on the test...

i am sorry i was tested 4 months after unprotected and 6 weeks after protected with elisa...so thats why i took an orasure test

If you had not done it right you would not have gotten a reading. You didn't even need to take a test to begin with. You already had a conclusive negative.

If it was not done correctly you would have got an invalid reading.
No reddish purple line next to the C
If any lines appear on the outside of C and T then the test is invalid.
You would have been told to retest.

i guess theres a different test they were refering to, this one is like a pad that is put in your mouth and then is taken out, its not a stick...i want to thank you again...the orasure says to swab your gums once and then place it in...thnx
