Very worried

Very worried

I was drunk and had an unprotected sex 2 weeks ago. It happened just once with the unknown girl on the bar. On the following 5 days after the incident, I went to the doctor to be tested with STD. Blood (CBC) and Urine test went all negative. Until now I have no symptoms of STD. Yesterday I had a diarrhea and now it's gone. I would like to know how many percentages of me acquiring the HIV with that one mistakenly incident? I'm really worried if I have the HIV. It's been 2 weeks already that I cannot sleep well. Please advise me what to do best. Thank you.

Thanks guys. Just like to add more. unprotected vaginal sex is at high risk of getting the HIV than to oral sex? Should I wait for 3 months to get tested? The anxiety really makes me feel more sick

One episode of unprotected vaginal sex, with you as the male, is a relatively low risk compared to repeated exposures of higher risk sexual activity, such as unprotected receptive anal sex. Your statistical risk is about 1 in 2,000. The odds are very much in your favor that you did not contract HIV from this. However, you still do have a degree of risk and need to be tested at 3 months. What you can do for now is get a DUO test at 4 weeks. The doctors on the expert forum both agree that a negative DUO test at 1 month is definitive proof that one was not infected with HIV. You should go and get this test in 1 week- a negative result should GREATLY alleviate your fears. However, on this forum they stick with the CDC's 3 month guideline. You still need to get your conclusive result at 3 months. Good luck with everything!

Thanks a lot. that helps to ease my anxiety. DUO test is the one, the doctor will take a blood sample from you. right? I know this is a stupid question but Just like to have a confirmation from an expert like you. I'm at high risk to HEPA B too? Do I need to be tested with Hepa B? when do you suggest?

Take your hepatitis questions to the proper forum.

Ok. thanks for the info. any idea regarding the DUO test? is it the one that the doctor will take a blood sample from you. right?

A DUO test will not give you a conclusive negative test result earlier than 3 months.

Got it Teak. any advice I need to do best, just to ease up some of those thoughts in my mind? or shall I dwell with this till 3 months time?

Worrying about what you done isn't going to change a thing. Find something to do to keep yourself busy until you can receive your test results.

Ok. thanks. I guess, I need to dwell with this anxiety till 3 months time. thanks anyway.

6 weeks gives you a great indication of your status, 3 months is totally conclusive.

the stats you were given above by avonelle are not strictly accurate.

if the other partner was hiv pos , then the risk is 1 in about 1 -2000
However you do not know if she was or not, usually 1 in 1000 of the general population are.
Unprotected insertive vaginal sex male to female has a transmission rate of less than one in a million statistically, however, statistics are not as good for prevention as a condom.

@Healthadvisory - thank you for the information. Will try to have the 28 days DUO test and will get the 3 months test again. When I receive the result on the 28 days DUO test, would that be ok to ask for your opinion again?
@Patricius - Thank you, Thank you Thank you. You have help me a lot. Thank you very much. Got a question, getting a DUO test on the 28th day ( which i'm planning to do ) is something you might recommend too or not?. I have experienced stomach problems ( the only symptom I have observed ) for about 3-4 days, would that be an HIV symptom? . Once again, thank you.

Stomach pains are not a symptom of HIV. 3 month post exposure test will be when you can receive a conclusive negative test result.

Teak, got a question - Patricius said that "Unprotected insertive vaginal sex male to female has a transmission rate of less than one in a million statistically", would like to know the one in a million stat of Unprotected insertive vaginal sex male to female is the exchange of semen and vaginal fluid? because I'm sure I had semen came out in her vagina.

BOTTOM LINE IS:

the only way to know one's status is by testing at the appropriate time.

thank you Lizzie. I understand. However, hope you'd understand too that every information I read, and each day waiting for the appropriate time to have the test is really such a pain. Apologies to ask questions frequently coz the thought that I might have HIV is really painful.

Hello, I just had my test both on HIV and Hepa B on the 24 day exposure. All went negative. I can't wait to get my test again on the 12 weeks. Just wanted to ask a question, I know that 12 weeks test result is conclusive however can anybody here tell me the percentage of being infected on HIV I have?
