had a test at 12 weeks however had no symtoms (symptoms) then and the doc says i was low risk i didnt know her status, i am just very paranoid she may have had it.
Also depending on your risk of exposure dose this determine the test they will do on you, as if they though i was low risk might they just do a brief test, should i retest again ?
i understand that this has been answered, however my concern is that they told me it would take 2 weeks for my results to come back and yet 3 days later i called and they had the results back as negitive, was quiet concerned as i thought well maybe these labs look at the risk and if its low they just discard without testing. I am very concerned as i am quiet ill at the moment am only a young guy who plays a lot of sports and now am struglling to get out my bed in the morning. very depreseed etc. I also asked my doctor to do blood test on me he said the test came back with a typical viral infection and were satisfactory. however to come back in 2 weeks for new bloods to make sure it has gone,
No you don't have a concern. It only takes hours to do a standard ELISA test. Labs give a week to two weeks for return due to there job loads in the lab.
hey teak, thats great thank you. you know i cannot help but admire you mate. At the end of the day you have this chornic disease and yet you sit here day in and out advising people on how lucky they are that they do not have it, SOME STILL DONT BLEIVE IT AS LIKE MYSELF ON OCCASSIONS ARE CONVICED I HAVE IT.
were abouts in america are you from, hows the weather over there ?
the joys of rain eh. i read your profile, it says you had hiv for 21 years before you were hospitilised, did you not know you had it for that length of time ??
I was a long term non-progressor and was never sick for 21 years until my CD4s crashed. Then I got really ill and was in the hospital for over a month with deseminating Histoplasmosis which took three years to finally test negative for histo. Been on HAART medications for 3 years 5 months.
excuse my ignorance, bt was is histo, i take this is a disease through hiv/aids (opportunistic) as they say. how do you feel on the meds has it brough you back to you previous health
Histo is a fungal desease of the blood. Deseminating histo effects every organ and spinal fluid and bone marrow. It has a 90% mortality rate. I feel pretty good now except for fatigue issues which I take medications for that. So all in all I feel pretty good no complaints.
good stuff. quality of life is the most imprtant part of it for anyone. well i hope all i well for you in the future. I will try not to bother you with any more health problems.
