What does this mean

"We concluded that chronic cough is a heterogeneous clinical problem in advanced HIV-infected patients, most commonly caused by an infective process. Extrapulmonary disease, such as sinusitis, has to be considered and investigated. The clinical course and outcome is unfavourable for most of the patients."

I've been convinced that my chronis cough going on 2 months is a sign of HIV from either protected sex or fingering. I know these aren't suppose to be risk but I'm starting to think otherwise.

Dr. HHH says in one of his posts that coughing is NOT a symptom of HIV.

chrisneedshelp said that hiv could cause coughing so I got more nervous. I didn't mean to upset anyone, just trying to get the answer from an expert. I've tried everything to get rid of my cough and its still there since september. Before my encounters I never really got sick to the point that I would have to go to a dr. I haven't seen a dr in many years.

all I know is I can't get rid of my cough. I've been through bottles of cough syrup and nothin. It seems to only come on at certain times of the day. I wonder if I have some type of advanced form of HIV. This is getting scary for me.

Chronic cough in already infected patients can be a sign of ADVANCED HIV disease, not primary.  They are referring to bacterial or viral infections that usually only outwardly affect those with a low CD4 count, or advanced HIV.  This is referring to things like Pneumocystic carinii (or jerovici) which causes chronic cough and is seen only in advanced cases.  Chronic cough is not part of ARS.
