What is the risk of HIV infection, withdrawal method

by wontdoitagain, Oct 13, 2009 06:46AM
I took a risk two weeks ago which I now regret as I am becoming increasingly worried. I am a female. I met a guy and over the space of a weekend had sex with him several times. At first he used a condom, which is something I always insist on, but then he stopped using a condom and withdrew before he ejaculated. I then came to my senses and told him I didn't think this was safe practice, for both pregnancy and STDs. He reassured me he didn't have any diseases, but I am not sure if I can believe him...if he didn't use a condom with me, then surely that means he hasn't used one with other girls! I don't know when or who his last partners were. After the weekend I really started thinking about it and started doing research. I decided to get a full STD check, as I have been sexually active with a few different partners (although always used a condom) and I wanted to know that I was clean. My tests came back negative for everything, but because it is too soon to know about HIV I am now trying to figure out what my chances are of this guy possibly infecting me, and whether I am being overly paranoid. He definitely did not come inside me, so it would just be from pre-cum (if there was any). I have just started getting thrush  (which I am prone to, so don't know if I should take that as a sign or not) and have been feeling very lethargic which has not eased my worries at all. I will get another HIV test in 3 months from now, but I don't want to be stressing about this until then, so if I know what my chances of him giving me HIV are, then it will hopefully ease the stress.

most ppl are not hiv positive
having sex with someone who IS positive does not mean automatic infection
pre-ejaculate does contain hiv but in much smaller concentration

with all that being said...having unprotected sex...as you are well aware of...does set up the potential for not only hiv but other stds as well.

sounds like you know the risk and when to test.  follow through with testing.

Stop worrying period. Your chances at being infected are negligible.
