What is the time span for the HIV symptoms to occure

by Janvar, Jul 02, 2009 09:42AM
Hi,
From the various posts on this forum I came to know that "one can not judge HIV by symptoms". However I bevile there might be some revelent information available which can define the time frame for these symptoms to occure.
Hence, I request reader to comment on the following questions.

I have few questions.....

1.Can ELISA detects all subtypes of HIV-1 and HIV-2 ?
2. How much time HIV symptoms require to show up after exposure ?
3. Does these symptoms are one time or do they apear again and again after specific time interval ?
4. What is the exact/appoprate time duration for symptoms to occure i.e. staring from which week/day and last how many days ?
5. Is the symptom "joint pain" means continuous pain in joint or can occure only for few times in a day and each time last for 10 seconds to 1 minute ? (I had experience the second type of join pain almost for 1-1.5 months in irregular intervals) Hence I want to know the brief information on the same, if any one has.....
6. Can these symptoms occurs only once in initial period of exposure or occures multiple time during the whole life span of the human?

These are the major question I am facing. Hence expecting answers ASAP.

Hi Teak,
I did not understand your last point.
Consisteant means consisteant throughout life span. Is this, what you want to say?
OR they occure only one time after two weeks as you said?

From your answer I got that symptoms starts to appear only after 2 week but is there any end period after which they will not appear?

Is night sweat related to HIV? To be presise is night sweat refers as Sweating at night or sweating in sleep?

Consistent through the ARS period of 1-2 weeks. HIV has NO specific symptoms.

If some version of ELISA detects HIV 1 and HIV 2 and other does not.  Moreover, from the discussion with one of the dr. I came to know ELISA can not detect all subtypes of HIV 1 also. So, How can one trust on these tests?
Is there definate way to be 100% sure that you are infected or you are not infected.

by Janvar, Jul 02, 2009 10:23AM
Can a small drop of blood mixed with oil or water is sufficient to infect any helty person.

by Teak, Jul 02, 2009 10:26AM
Your doctor was incorrect.  NO..blood mixed with air will not cause infection let alone oil or water.

Then what these symptoms indicate:
Joint pain
Night sweat
Headace

Headace for 1-3 days in 5th week
Joint pain in irregular intervals from 3rd week to 6th week (4 to 10 times almost daily for 10 to 60 seconds).

I think these are the symptoms related to HIV
