What techniques are used for screening in GUM clinics

Hi does any body know what "type" of methods does GUM clinics use to screen the blood for HIV? e.g ELISA, I mean in terms of techniques used in the Laborotory?

Thanks for commenting, Im just really worried! I always seem to waste time thinking bout how the GUM clinics screen for HIV antibodies. Do they not use microscopes to screen the blood? if not, isnt ELISA expensive method for testing? I spoke to someone at the clinic and they said they use ELISA. And I remeber when I went to a private clinic it cost me £195=nearly $200.

Teak if know how these things work, can you please explain it to me? Is there a difference between the ELISA used in GUM clinics and ELISA used in private clinics?
