What's going on, what does my sister-in-law have?

Hello. This is my very first post. I'm so devastated about something. My sister-in-law is just above 10 years old. She takes Viread and Kaletra every day. My mother-in-law takes Videx EC and Ziagen. My mother-in-law is currently in Africa, and I've searched on the pills my sister-in-law is taking, and I found out that it was HIV treatment :'( I couldn't hold my tears, because I love her so much, and she is so young. I want to know what it means. Please tell me. Does she have HIV, will she have trouble later in life, will she have to take them for the rest of her life. What can we do to help her, is there anything we can do to make everything better? I want to know. Please help me. I can't get it out of my mind now, and I'm crying as if I found out that I had it myself. Her older sister, my fiancee, we're both so confused and sad.

Sounds like she's positive with the info you gave. Will she have to take them for life? Yes, either that med combo or any number of others. You can't make her better she's on medication.

Even though she doesn't take Videx EC? :( Only Viread and Kaletra? I was hoping so much that she didn't have HIV and the meds were from keeping her from getting it. Her brother said that the problem was her having too few white blood cells, and that she only would take pills untill she got better. So he was lying to us, wasn't he?

Kaletra and Viread are indeed HIV medications. Kaletra is only used for HIV but Viread is also approved for use with Hepatitis.

She is going to be on medication for the rest of her life? Is her life threatened somehow? I mean, not if she stops taking medication but is she generally going to die sooner than she would without HIV? :'(
