Worried About Sexual Encounter

Hi, I am worried about a sexual encounter I had that may or may not have been protected. I am a 35 yr old man who is in a loving committed relationship but I was very curious about anal sex. I ended up having anal sex last tuesday for the first time with an unknown partner. I practised safe sex and I was the person who was giving. However I think the condom may have split or burst during the act as when i finished i looked at the condom and when i pulled it a little the tip of my penis poked out. I have never done anything like this before and I am freaking out as I do not know if the person had any diseases. I went to a sexual health clinic and have started on a course of PEP but I need to know how high the risk actually was. I have been googling all the time since this has happened and there are so many mixed results. Can someone please help. Thanks xx

From a broken condom you had a risk, anal sex is the easiest way for HIV to be transmitted. The receiver is at a higher risk, so while you had a high risk it does not mean you will get HIV. You should talk to the person and have him/her test.

It was a random meeting, I dont know the person and that is why I am worried. This is the only time I have ever done such a thing and Im just praying that I havent caught anything. I am on PEP and hope that I will be ok.

As Vance2335 said, there was risk involved in the broken condom. This means you exposed your self to HIV. Go for a antibody test after 3 months and your results will be conclusive.
Till then do not stress yourself out because stress can bring a lot of HIV like symptoms and that can be very confusing for the person dealing with it.

brice...please quit hijacking other people's threads, you have your own.

nPEP drugs are expensive, but they vary from place to place and depedning on insurance coverage (a lot of plans do not cover it).  The can be $1,000-1,500 per course, or more.

You need to get your OWN evaulation at an ER, where you will get the answers that apply to YOU directly.  PLUS, time is of the essence when it comes to nPEP.  The sooner it is started, the better, so get off the computer and head to the ER if you want to consider it and be evaluated for it.
