and started to worry a bit again.Pain has been off and on and different in intensity. Also had one episode of diahorrea last week aswell.
Haven't been worried now for a couple of weeks, not visiting this site at all and getting on with things, but now just a little worry again. Time does seem to be slipping by fast though and am looking forward to reaching that 12 week mark ! What kind of test should I get then ? Is the DUO alright again or is that just for early detection ?
Thanks to everyone who spends time supporting people like myself !!!
Your 4 week negative result is very reassuring. Dr. HHH says that for low risk exposures 4-6 weeks is very reliable. But since you are so worried and it has passed the 6 weeks, just take the test for a peace of mind. Try to relax. The odds really are strongly in your favor.
, so I would say that the odds are completely in your favor. You had protected sex, meaning, of course, that you were protected from contracting HIV, not to mention a host of other STDs. Other than to avoid pregnancy, this is one of the main reasons that condoms are made and used, and they work very, very well for that purpose.
Given that you had *protected* (can't emphasize that word enough) sex, I don't really see that you have much, if anything, to worry about. I don't believe you contracted HIV from the encounter that you described. With this in mind, try to stop relating every little thing happening in your body to HIV. Whatever is going on, it isn't being caused by a disease from which you protected yourself by wearing a condom.
If you simply must, feel free to go ahead and get a test. You will be doing so strictly for peace of mind, not because there was any, and I mean any, realistic chance that you caught HIV by having protected sex.
Dear XHost,
Your comment was really really reassuring.
I too am in a similar situation as Wombat72, i.e protected sex with sex worker, HIV DUO at 27 days negative. The only difference is that till date (40days post exposure) I do not experience any ARS symptoms though the chances of the sexworker being HIV+ is very high in my case.
Your comments sure have helped us calm down.
thanks!
Protected sex is just that - Protected no matter with whom. And you confirmed this with testing that leaves no chance whatsover HIV was contracted despite any spin your mind can put on it.
For infection there is no need for further testing - you guys are done. For anxiety test again at three months to clear it out of you brain, you will get the inevitable negative result.
