Worried in Asia

Hi, i was in Phuket, Thailand 2 weeks ago, got very drunk and ended up having unprotected vaginal sex with a bar girl twice.  At the time she showed me a medical card which stated she was HIV negative although I was so drunk I could hardly read it.

What concerns me is that I am uncircumcised and in the morning after she left I realised that there is a tear in the skin attaching the foreskin to the penis which must have happened during intercourse.  I am assuming this increases chances of infection if I was exposed.

Also, 1 week after the encounter I came down with flu like symptoms and am now starting to recover.

My question is how likely is it that I have HIV and how early can I get tested.

Many thanks.

My friend, you must always wear protection when having intercourse, especially with a sex worker. That said, you should test at the 8 week mark, to the day, and then again for confirmation at 90 days. Vaginal intercourse is still a low risk, but due the fact that she allowed you to engage in intercourse with her unprotected i would not let that med card determine wether -or- not you engage in safe/unprotected sex. I think that you will be fine scince this was a two episode situation. I wish you luck and the ability to reflect on your choices in the future regarding safe sex.
