Worried sick , under a lot of anxiety

Hello Medhelp Community ,

I had my first gay sexual encounter on 24th of April 2015, ever since that day i got worried and started looking for symptoms ,went to the doctor two days later (because of worry) ,told him what happened and he gave me Ceftriaxone injection , paracetemol, and doxy HCI , on the 27th i made a double check and went to the doctor and he told nothing to worry about , but ask me to take a urine test and a hiv test one month later . Yesterday i felt that my neck was swollen and went to the doctor and he told me that there is no swollen lymph nodes.I had burning sensation in my urine a day back but now its normal. This is what happen:

1) We performed oral on each other with protection
2) He fingered my anus
3) We did not have intercourse
4) we did not kiss in the mouth

My questions are

1)What is my risk of getting infected
2) I feel feverish but doctors say I'm not having fever
3) I also having muscle and neck pain

Thank you for all your help guys , Im so worried , sorry if my questions are silly .

You had NO RISK from THIS exposure, which you said was your "first GAY sexual encounter."

MY mistake was that I assumed this was not only your first GAY sex, but your first SEX period.........that you were a virgin!

But,  since I understand NOW that you had sex before, the question has become  "did you EVER, at ANY time, during your sexual history have an exposure?"

If you had UNPROTECTED vaginal sex with a woman and/or UNPROTECTED oral sex in the past, you WERE, and still ARE, at risk. for HIV and STD's.

Unless you can say with 100% certainty that ALL of your past sexual encounters were protected both vaginally and orally. Otherwise, I must agree with the doctors who have advised you to test for HIV and STD's.

The azithromycin (Zithromax) is a very good anti-infective and is often prescribed here to treat bacterial STD's.

Since I now have a different understanding of your situation, I think you would feel better and much less anxious if you did test for both HIV and STD's.
Sorry for my misunderstanding your sexual history. This thread would have been much shorter if I had caught my mistake earlier.
Peace

Sorry i don't what happen to my other account , i forgot the password clicked forget password still couldn't get the mail

When you said that you had your first "gay" sexual encounter, are you saying this was your first sexual encounter.........gay or straight?

-First gay sexual encounter

When you went to the doctor 2 days after this encounter, did you actually have ANY symptoms beyond anxiety?
I'm just wondering why your doctor would give you 2 different types of antibiotics and a pain/fever reducer if you had no symptoms. Did he tell you WHY he was giving you all this stuff? Those drugs would make sense to me if you had had UNPROTECTED oral and had tested positive for an STD. But you had ZERO risk..........so I don't understand. I would definitely ask him why he gave them to you.

- I felt a lot of body heat , i couldn't tell the doctor i was engaged in homosexual activity voluntarily , as in Malaysia the society does not accept. So i told the doctor i was forced to give and receive oral , but i did not inform him about the protection. After that awkwardness i started to visit a Singapore doctor and told all the truth.

I can only surmise that perhaps protocol in Kuala Lupur is different than in the US. Are homosexuals accepted there? Is the prevention and treatment of HIV open for discussion?

- Homosexuals are not accepted but HIV prevention and treatment is open for discussion

Unless you use IV drugs and didn't tell us, as you see, you have nothing to worry about. If you always use a condom, you will always be safe.

- No IV drugs has been used

I hope you will let us know what the doctor says tomorrow.

- I met the doctor he said most of the test is normal , but hesitated when talking about the white blood cell count in the urine , he suggested me take doxycycline HCI but later changed his mind when i told that the Malaysian doctor has been giving the same medicine ( ps I got docycline on Sunday , first two dosage , and gave Urine sample the next day to the Singapore doctor). He said that taking the Urine sample again is no use as it has just been taken , he suggested to take HIV and Urine test again on end of this month . I don't know how to relax anymore . The fear is killing me inside!

When you said that you had your first "gay" sexual encounter, are you saying this was your first sexual encounter.........gay or straight?

As maash told you, with PROTECTED oral sex you had absolutely NO RISK for HIV and NO RISK for STD's.

I am not a doctor and therefore unqualified to interpret your lab results. If you are seeing the doctor again tomorrow, he will explain the results in detail to you and anything you don't understand, ASK!

While I can understand and sympathize with your anxiety, you really need to step back and hear what we've told you. You had PROTECTED oral sex and DO NOT have risks for either HIV or STD's. You DO NOT need to test for anything.

I can only surmise that perhaps protocol in Kuala Lupur is different than in the US. Are homosexuals accepted there? Is the prevention and treatment of HIV open for discussion?

There are three (3) ways you can contract HIV:

1) UNPROTECTED INSERTIVE VAGINAL/ANAL SEX WITH HIV+ PARTNER

2) SHARING DRUG WORKS (NEEDLES) WITH AN HIV+ PERSON

3) HIV+ MOTHER TO UNBORN CHILD

Unless you use IV drugs and didn't tell us, as you see, you have nothing to worry about. If you always use a condom, you will always be safe.

I hope you will let us know what the doctor says tomorrow.
Try to relax.
