Worried!
8 months ago I was in china on a business trip. On the last night I got very drunk and visited a brothel. It wasn't a seedy one...but still a brothel!! As I was drunk I can't quite remember the whole experience. It started with a shower then oral sex. We then had protected sex. As I was drunk this went on for a while. Then the prostitute took of the condom and started giving me oral sex again. She then processed to jump on top and we had unprotected sex until I came. Afterwards we had another shower. However I did notice that my penis head had abrasions on it (maybe they were small cuts) from the session.
I am now in a state of panic! For some reason at the time I didn't even think about the chance of catching HIV. Now 8 months down the line it's all come back to me and I'm worried sick! I have just done a HIV postal test so i get the results back in a few days hopefully.
What are the chances that I have caught HIV!? Any sort of answers anyone could give would be helpful - I'm so worried I haven't slept for 2 days.

If you had your results and they are negative there is nothing to worry about. Plus it was 4 years ago - the only symptoms you get are in the first 2-6 weeks. Then people find out when they get other infections due to HIV.
Well the problem was the exposure happened 8-10 months ago. Symptoms happen between 4-6 weeks and because I left it so long I couldn't remember that far back. I remember at some point having a sore throat around 6 months ago. When I came back from the business trip I used a condom with my wife for around 6 weeks just incase - I wasn't even thinking about HIV. Was only thinking about clumidia etc. after that I didn't use protection and I remember my wife having a sickness bug within the last 4 months. That was when I started worrying. But you can get HiV and get hardly any symptoms at all which is the worrying part. I just had no idea if I had it and the only way to find out is a test. From what I've read the earlier you catch it the better so dont hang about!

I used a postal test service which would text me if they were negative and call if I was positive. Half way through the morning I got a call from an unknown number. That was the best laxative I have every had. Turned out to be a telesales man. I revived a text a couple hours later saying all was clear.
I have to say that was the most stressful week of my life. Most people reading this will have already had an exposure which is why they are here. But one piece of advice from me is be safe!! Nothing is worse than the waiting to see if you have HIV. I didn't sleep for nights thinking about how I would tell my wife I made a massive drunken mistake and our lives will never be the same again. I though about how I would tell my parents and what their reaction would be. It doesn't bear thinking about so please everyone remember to play safe - it really isn't worth all the worrying afterwards. It has taught me a big lesson. Sober I would never cheat and it wouldn't have happened. When I'm drunk it's a different story. If I have learnt one thing it is not to get sooo drunk again where my judgment is so severely compromised. There also should be much more awareness in the UK. You used to have HIV warnings all the time - there is nothing these days and I think everyone has forgotten the risks. Before i met my wife I had numerous one night stands and not one of the girls asked me to put on a condom. People just don't think they are going to get HiV. But you just never know.

Thanks Vance. The annoying thing is that she gave me her number as she wanted to see me again. Afterwards I did text her as I was worried and she got a bit stroppy saying she always usually wears condoms. I tried the number recently but unfortunately it's out of service now.
We are here to give you truth about your actions. You had a risk and have tested for it. You will only know from the results. Vaginal sex is not as easy to get HIV but it is still a risk.
So if she has HIV I do now?? I was kinda hoping that someone would say it's still quite have to catch with vaginal sex!!?
