Worried

Hello..ive been reading this forum since two months ago..iam a male and i had unprotected vaginal sex with a woman that asked me if i had any stds.i was sure i hadnt..but then i was worried that she had..so i asked her to test and she sent me the results of negative hiv..but then i knew about the widow period and i panickes again as i noticed i got some oral symptoms..i tested a duo test at 21 and 27 days which turned negative then i tested a elisa at 6 weeks also negative..she also tested at 7 weeks negative with an elisa test and she told me she is ready to test at 12..but iam having every single symptom..ive read that experts here consider the duo conclusive at 28 (27 is close )..i know about the 12 weeks test..

Any help?

HIV is NEVER diagnosed by symptoms. It is highly unlikely that your 6 week negative status, and her 7 week negative status will change.
First of all, ALL states have not yet changed to the 6 week window because they look to the CDC for their guidelines.  Most states look to the CDC for their guidelines because they have little or no research going on in their own states regarding HIV transmission.

The states that have the most advanced research and the cities with the most experience with the epidemic (NYC, Seattle and San Francisco) ALL quote a 6 week definitive window!

As everyone acknowledges, the CDC is the MOST CONSERVATIVE of all agencies working in this area.

Personally, I prefer to go with the MOST ADVANCED AND UP TO DATE information, rather than the most conservative.

But until ALL states AND the CDC get on the same page, if you need the peace of mind of testing at 12 weeks, by all means test.

As I said, if having a test at 12 weeks will give you complete peace of mind...........do it. I don't know of any HIV Specialists who say that a 4 week DUO is conclusive. New testing protocols state 6 weeks will yield conclusive results.
Ill do the 12 weeks test..hope it doesnt change..iam not debating with you..but both of the drs you had here in this forum,dr hhh and dr hook and drs at freedomhealth clinic say that duo test is conclusive at 28 days.

Thank you foe your help
