Worried

Worried

I am extremely worried about two exposures in my life. I had a long time sexual relationship with a classmate from 2001 to 2004. She appeared fine but I dont really know. When I got worried about me getting HIV infected (and she asked me to get tested) I got myself tested in June 2006 (two year after the last exposure with her), which was negative. I dont know which method was used for the test but I got the results in one hour.

Then in July 2006, I visited a massage parlor, fingered the girl, who was giving me massage and used the same hand to masterbate myself.

I dont have any symtoms (symptoms) but am extremely worried. Please advise.

For your first concern, your test result is conclusive. There is absolutely no chance you got HIV from her. Period.

Now, regarding fingering... there is no way you can get HIV from fingering. Even if you masturbated yourself after. HIV cannot be transmitted this way.

How relaible is the quick HIV test?

Do you advise me to take the test again for the two exposures I mentioned? Can I forget about these and live happily with my wife?

The quick HIV test is ~100% reliable. It picks up all negatives, and gives false positives a bit higher than the traditional test (that's why a positive must be confirmed).

You can forget about it man. There is no way you got HIV from fingering. Time to move on.

Thanks a lot buddy. I am too scared to get tested. I will try to forget everything and start my life afresh.

Listen, you have nothing to worry about.

First, you shouldn't fear getting tested. If you did have anything, it's better to know about it and get treatment.

In your case, however, you do not even need testing. Do not worry about it.
