. However, for whatever reason, there was a slight pop sound (and a "pop-like" feeling for me as I was the recipient) and this occurred within a minute after he entered me. We looked at each other in a rather stunned way and he pulled out.
There was a small "nickel-sized" tear in the condom
on the head of his penis - but not at the tip. We tried again with another Lifestyles condom and THE SAME THING HAPPENED! This seems unbelievable but it's true. I don't know how much the second one tore but he pulled out immediately. Finally, we tried a Trojan brand and it worked but I could not relax enough to enjoy the sex (after the previous two breakages.) So, we stopped. There was never any rough action or thrusting but what worries me most is that prior to use of the condom - during kissing and playing with nipples, he had a great deal of pre-seminal fluid. There was enough there so that I decided not to perform oral. What I'm concerned about is that when the condom broke - some of the pre-seminal fluid got inside me. What's more: I felt a little tender at the edge of my rectum (maybe a fissure? - or hemheroid - i don't know) - but that would even increase my chances for getting some pre-*** in a fragile area, I think. I have been obsessing about this and am waiting until six weeks have passed before I go get tested. That period ends on August 29th. I'm so worried about it that I don't know if I'll go get the test. Every day I think it's already too late. To add to my stress: on July 21 one of my roommates returned from a cross-country trip and had a very bad cold (upper respiratory infection.) I hoped not to get it but, sure enough, within one week I had all the same symptoms which included nasal congestion, cough, some headache and sore throat and drainage. My roommate had a significant temperature but I did not notice having a fever while I was sick. When I took my temperature it was 98.6. I have recovered 99% from the cold now (just a little residual drainage) but about ten days ago I noticed a red mark on my chest - the size of a lima bean - and it still hasn't gone away. I have another little rash-like place on the under-side of my fore-arm, very small - like the size of a small nail-head. It showed up after the one on the chest. Otherwise, I feel fine and have resumed my exercise and all normal activities (with the exception of obsessing over the condom breakage incident.) I asked the friend (from the incident) if he had been tested and he just said "not yet." I suggested that we could go together but he didn't commit to it. He is younger - only 21 - and I think afraid to get tested. I've been tested before (August, 2007) and all was well but now I fear I've ruined my life. And to think we were doing "the right thing" with the usage of the condom. I'm just at a loss for words. I feel exhausted from thinking about it. Please . . .someone . . .give me some hope. Thanks.
Your risk was low being protected until the condom broke and the quick removal. You can test at 3 months post exposure and collect your conclusive result. Make sure the condoms are used correctly and with plenty of waterbased lube.
You had a broken condom while having sex, so you werent 100% protected, so then you should test, get testes at 6 weeks for 95% accurancy and then at 3 months for the conclusive result, the odds are very very high on your side.
Thanks . . .and, of course, it is not that I know he is HIV + . . .just "not knowing" . . .
so I understand the odds are in my favor. Thanks for the comments.
I just took the "ora-quick" advance test and, thank God, it was negative.
Just wanted to follow up on my initial post and encourage others to get tested.
