a friend told me about rapid test

hello there,
i come to ask a question.
I met a friend yesterday. He works at gov. Free hiv test center. He told me that rapid tests are not for those who want to know for sure if they infected or not. He said the only test to be trusted is lab base tests only. He said rapid tests only for urgent tests.
He also told me that based on his experience rapid tests have around 70% accuracy only.

Please give comments on this, why he said like that. Or free rapid tests used in my country are bad in quality?

Your "friend" gave you incorrect information. Rapid tests are very reliable. All positive tests have to be confirmed no matter what test it is.

about "conclusive", does it mean 100 percent?

If someone tests negative at 3 months post-exposure then there result is 100% conclusive.

Why in my country they still use Abbott Determine hiv 1/2?  (this not combo)

I do a search and know that it was used since late 90'
and it's not FDA approved, it's only USAID approved.
I Now think this test is not reliable.

I believe your answers here only based on new modern tests that are much accurate.

The test I mention above is too old :( to believe :(

The test was reliable and it makes no difference if it was used in the late 90's or not.
