a night out with concern

Hi Doctors,

I had a night out that I wish never happened.  I had a lot to drink at a strip club and had three different lap dances with three different strippers.  During the first lap dance, the woman just unzipped my pants and masturbated me with a condom on. When I went to zip up my pants the zipper caught the middle of my penis and may have caused a cut because I remember feeling the pinch.  Afterwards I had two more lap dances with two other Dominican women and they each placed a condom on me and we had vaginal sex for a little bit...I'm not certain if they put it on correctly...I was drinking but definitely remember them using a condom. During the vaginal sex my penis came out so they started masturbating me agian and then put my penis back inside for more vaginal sex...I hope this didn't jeopardize the condoms coverage.  Then unfortunately the night wasn't over. I went to a Korean massage place had a massage and received deep unprotected oral sex from her for about 10 minutes.  There was no other sex, but my penis may have bumped up or grazed against her vagina.

Can you please tell me if I could have caught hiv from this experience or any other std's?  What tests will I need and when? Also because my zipper caught my penis, was this a problem for the lap dance events and receiving unprotected oral sex at the massage parlor?

Thank you for this site and your help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to our Forum.  The only exposure which put you at risk for any STD was receipt of unprotected oral sex.  Masturbation and condom protected sex are no risk and you can be confident that your partners did put the condoms on correctly.  Not only is it their business but it is also important to point out that their interest in condoms has more to do with their wanting to not be infected by you, not the other way around, thus they had a vested interest in making sure the condoms were used properly.

As far as oral sex is concerned, the quoted figure for HIV risk, if one has oral sex with an infected partner is less than 1 in 10,000 and, in my estimation that is too high. Some experts state there is no risk at all from oral sex.  Neither of us on this site have ever seen or reading the medical literature of a convincing instance in which HIV was passed by oral sex..

There is however a modest chance of other STD from oral sex, even though, in general oral sex is an inefficient way to transmit STDs.  Of the bacterial STDs only gonorrhea and nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) are transmitted through oral sex; chlamydia is not and without an obvious sore or lesion on your partner’s mouth, the chances of syphilis and herpes is likewise tiny.   If you had gotten gonorrhea or NGU you would have most likely developed symptoms of urethritis (penile infection).  Even if your partner had an STD (any STD and it is likely she did not), most exposures do not lead to infection.  In your case, I would urge you not to worry. If you must, you could go to your local STD clinic or health care provider to be tested at this time.

The zipper event makes no difference.

Hope these comments help. Take care. EWH
