after effects of pep treatment

Dear Doctor

I wanted to ask if it is possible to experince side effects after completion of the PEP treatment. I developed skin rash and running nose 2 days after treatment and when i looked at the phamlet from the tablet pack, it listed skin rash and nasal disorders as one of the side effects? And how long will this last?

I would love to know if some of these "posters" ever got relief from their long term effects?... I have finished PEP for almost 2 weeks and I am still fairly weak.  I am no longer able to go to the Gym and workout like I used to at all... wondering if this is my new life...

Everybody is different - some could have effects. The rash I could imagine as one such effect. The runny nose is less likely and is very common anyway. He should talk to the doctor that gave nPEP.

Also it has been documented that the earlist users of PEP have not lived for more than 15 years so the long term effects of PEP are still unknown.

Are there any members who can confirm that they felt no effects of PEP post completion?

I hate to disagree with you as I know you are very knowledgeable. My doc told me that at the end of PEP they test patients to assess the impact of the medications and some remedial action taken if certain side effects have occurred. There must surely be a latency to these side effects? Jessy and I have experienced not feeling entirely well since completing PEP. In my case even my ESR has become highly elevated and I was completely healthy before PEP.

What do you think is the reason for this?

No you wouldn't get a runny nose or skin rash after nPEP completion.

It is a fair question you have asked.

I have finished PEP for 3 weeks now and still don't feel completely well. I am not sure if that is due to PEP or infection. I will only know when I get test results. My doc says there can be an after effect but that affects people very differently.

PEP does lower your immune system, and so not uncommon to develop some sort of a rash or infection.

Best not to worry about it. It is always a smart move to go on PEP if recommended.

Should have been ...can have effects that don't disappear...

This is not the doctor forum. Don't know about PEP but many drugs can have effects that don't appear immediately upon discontinuation or effects that appear after discontinuation only to disappear later. I would ask the doc that prescribed the PEP treatment.
