my risk was unprotected vaginal. It was like 9 months ago and i was tested at 15 weeks, negative. Now it is like many months later and I am noticing it. I was on a few antobiotics for an animal bite, too. It was after I finished them that i noticed my tongue like this. I hope Im ok....
Dude, I'm in the same boat (although not vag, just oral). 15 weeks neg...you're straight. That makes me feel better about mine, hah! Good luck, man, you're cool. Test again if ya want, ain't gonna change.
yes I am still stressed b/c I cant figure out why all of a sudden i got this tongue thing going on...there is no legitament reason for it b/c i never had a problem like this before. Then I thought of my unprotected exposure. What else causes geographic tongue??
Damn, 3 'dudes'...I sound like souch a pothead. Anyways, they say there is usually no known cause of it. Teak says he's never seen it in early HIV infection and only in people with the disease for a while.I've been brushing my tongue 3x a day (every meal), using dental floss more, rinsing with salt water and with a diluted hydrogen peroxide mix...seems to be working.
Dont panick, what you have is called a thrush, caused by candidi, now you mentioned you are on antibiotics, this can be secondary to broad spectrum antibiotic use... now go to a doctor and he will prescribe you of an antifungal preparation ... you are negative
Geo tongue is not associated with any disease. It just means that some of your buds got scraped off or something like that. Thrush is not the same as g tongue. Thrush is yummy cottage cheese looking sh!t on your tongue that you can scrape off usually leaving behind a little bit of bleeding. Thrush is seen in later stage hiv not new infections (or atleast that is the consensus on here), and it can also be caused by antibiotics as well as a hundred and twelve million other things much more common that hiv.
A tooth infection can cause many illnesses in the body, if it's not treated. Its and infection that can effect your tongue and other parts of the body if given time.
GeoTongue has NOTHING to do with thrush (or fungus). They could get confusing if you have erysthmatous (sp?) candiasis (sp?). If it's painful and really red, it's probably that form of thrush. If it's not, and disappears and reappears it's probably geo tongue. If you want, go to an MD or oral surgeon. GT is not a problem though.
hey bigdummy, you said a tooth infection? my wisdom teeth seem to be poking through and they hurt pretty bad now and then. But how can a tooth infection cause geographic tongue?
I have had G tongue ever since I can remember. I even had a dentist confirm it, but I have only had hiv paranoia for 6 months (did I just say only six months?). G tongue is just annoying. It isn't from a disease. Chances are you have had it off and on for many years, but you didn't go around examining your tongue (and every other part of your body) for abnormalties. If g tongue is caused by hiv, then I have had hive since I was like 10.
wait you said i have thrush?? i thought G tongue and thrush were different. I dont have any white cottage cheese looking stuff...i have nothing to "scrape" off and it doesnt bleed. I think I have Geographic tongue or soemthing b/c some of my filiform papillae are missing in some areas leaving it looking pink and smooth. ughhh i hate dealing with this...so you all said G tongue really doesnt have a specific cause?!
so the missing filiform papillae on my tongue is not thrush? I hope not. i dont have any very thick white patches or anything. Can being on 2 different prescriptions do it? Thanks...please answer teak.
I don't buy the GTongue hot and spicy food thing. But anyways, as hard a pill as it is to swallow, GTongue is really not a sign of early HIV infection. Usually, there is no known cause...in fact, you are born with the condition and something (not HIV) triggered it...probably stress, allergy, environmental, etc...
