Yes ofcourse you can live many years with the virus provided you do all the right things and stay healthy.Teak is the perfect example of a person with Hiv who has lived nearly 30 years with the virus and is still going strong. You have to be informed now and keep listening to your ID doctors.
Your questions are done in this forum any further questions you'll have to post in the Living With Forum.
Thank you. Desperate and regret is all I can feel right now. Just got another call from Chinese CDC, a CD4 test and viral load test would be needed next Monday, then I will be given med care or not based on my CD4 level, which is if the level is above 350 there is no need for me to get med care for now. This is China's newest policy. All I can think about is after taking med, is it possible to prolong my life spin? for like how long?
Well if what you are saying is true then i am deeply sorry for your positive diagnosis and i would encourage you to consult an ID doctor and get the best information on how to live with HIV.There is also a support group here at medhelp called ''Living with Hiv'' which you can join and converse with other people that are living with the virus.I wish you all the best.
maybe I should have mentioned this earlier, I am in China. I just the news from Chinese CDC, they have the lab to perform WB test.
Where was the WB performed because the CDC don't provide testing.
possible exposure may be precum, not semen involved.
yes, with WB test , it shows gp160gp120gp41p66p51p31p24, CDC confirmed that
How did the CDC confirm your diagnosis? The CDC does not offer input on nor get directly involved with a person's medical health.
That being said, your risk was not low. A one time heterosexual exposure would be lower, but being a bottom in MSM relationship, the risk is MUCH higher.
You will need to confirm any + test result with a Western Blot. Good luck to you.
When was your possible exposure?
If you tested positive for Hiv you need to have a confirmatory western blot test,if that test is positive then you have Hiv.
Thanks for your reply, just got confirmed with CDC that I am infected with HIV.
Thanks for your early reply. Is this the action with high risk compared to cum inside? If there is no semen transmitted, what body fluid could be medium to achieve this transmission?
It certainly is possible.
Not having ejaculated inside you might reduce the risk, but unfortunately yes.... you had a risk and you need to get tested at the appropriate time.
Statistically speaking ...your chance of having been infected is medium to low. A one time exposure seldom leads to infection. He may not even be pos.
Having said that...you had a real risk.
It doesn't matter now what factors lead to infection.
Relax and have a test at 6 weeks and a confirmatory test at 12. Some say a DUO at four will give you a reasonable prediction.
If you get out of this ok...and chances are good that you will.....next time....insist on condoms!!
