beyond 12 weeks

Hi All Members,

I am male and had unprotected vaginal sex with a csw 3.5 months ago. I tested with ag/ab combo on week 8 and 12 and fortunately, negetive

I thought I could celebrate as I always read 12 weeks conclusive under this forum. I have fever and infected throat with a few rash on my upper abdoment. I feel woory when I noticed that cdc recommended a 6 months window period. Expert from this forum mentioned 8 weeks is good enough and I honestly believe their statement is stronger than just some paper guideline.

I tried to search from net was there really some people who seroconvert after 12 weeks but no web provide with the report. My questions are :1) In the real world, is there anyone seroconvert after 12 weeks ( after 2004)? 2) Is my syntom related to hiv ( after 12 weeks). Please help me.

Hi Teak, after reading the website you provided, my mind is totally calm. Still following this forum and found that many people still concern even they had a 12 weeks negetive.

The website is very very helpful (the cdc manual). Its it posible to get any statement from the cdc manual saying that only people under chemotheraphy, antirejection drug and iv drug user should test beyond 12 weeks (3months)?.

I think it will help a lot of people with this training manual. Thanks a lot teak.

Thank You Teak, now I understand nearly the whole world (USA, AUSTRALIA, UK, CHINA, SWEDEN, GERMAN, FRANCE, PORTUGAL, SWITZERLAND, BRAZIL ETC) is using 3 months as window period and I will not be the unlucky one to seroconvert after 3 months. If 3 months not conclusive, nothing I can do. Thanks Teak and MedHelp Forum.

Wow. I got it. A great one. Teak, sorry for two last question please as I am sick now.(terrrible sore throat)

1) Is the Manual official and adopted by CDC? What is PMTCT. No CDC logo on the Manual.

2) Great to have the official 3 months window period from cdc but why the other statement of cdc mentioned only 97% seroconvert in 3 months and the rest 6 months?

Hope you don't mind Teak.
