can anyone help??

ok so i am a male(21 y/o)  i had a one night stand with a female (20-28 y/o) while seriously intoxicated (no condom) i did not know her hiv status and it only lasted a few minutes because i was so drunk. the next day i had serious burning pain while urinating.so i got checked for hiv and std's 2 weeks later, both came back negative. 2 months after that i got checked for std's only again came back negative. At 4 months i started geting canker sores 1-3 here and there at around 5 months they stopped for 1 month its now 6 months later from the encounter and i have ten cankers at one time im freaking out and have no idea if this is related to an std or hiv can anyone shed some light on why one person would have 10 cankers at one time??????? thanks alot

Not necessarily. HIV related early symptoms (called ARS) appear within 2-4 weeks of exposure and last for 1-2 weeks. However most of the people, actually infected, do not see any symptom and remain asymptomatic. Therefore I do not consider symptoms something to worry about. Your antibody blood test is the only way to find your status.

I forgot to add one point. Next time, keep woman and wine separate, they do not mix well. Never get involve in sex with someone you dont know, while you are drunk. Condom is a must for sex with anyone, outside your mutually committed long term monogamous relationship.

Relax, not everyone gets HIV from a single event of unprotected sex with a HIV positive partner. There are many odds in your favor. Although HIV transmission is not a game of numbers and probability, however just to calm you down, I state that your probability was very low to conteract HIV.

Since you are from USA, as per recent statistics, 1.1-1.2 million people are living with HIV, in a country with total population over 300 million. Therefore only 4 in 1000 are infected. Now possibility of getting HIV infection for a male is 1 out of 2000. Therefore your calculated cumulative risk is 4/(1000x 2000) which is 2 in a million.

Having said that, your risk is low though, but not zero, so the best thing for your peace of mind is, to get yourself tested anytime now because your exposure is more than 3 monts old. Get the test done and obtain final and conclusive report and move on with your life.

Do not focus on symptoms, they do not mean much and are misleading in most of the cases.
