can i contract HIV even if i used a condom

hi!!!!!

I m male...I had sex in Vancouver,British Columbia,Canada on 20th of june,2009 with a sex worker(female) who claimed herself to be completely clean when i enquired about the safety ...she also told me that "since I will be using a condom ,there will not be any risk at all.."

and the session wasn't that long she gave me ******* while i was wearing a condom and after that we had sex in women on top position, she was sitting..since it was first encounter,i think it was not more than one minute.....

one week after, when we were planning a trip to whistler mountain|(where we stayed 2 days)my room mate mate argued to me that even if i used a condom it doesn,t matter..if  she was HIV  positive, i could have contracted the infection..

afterwards i started searching for the symptoms of hiv , the effectiveness of condoms, the percentage of HIV population in my area and all other stuffs.....i found that condoms are completely effective in preventing the hiv from getting in to your body.. but i wasn't able to convince my mind about that...day after day my life has become hell .....every time i m awake i only think about that...

after that incident, i kept myself watching for my symptoms....three weeks after the encounter we went to a night club where i drank rum n coke , whisky n coke first time in my life....as i enquired about my symptoms i found small lymph glands under my neck, these are still of the same size, there is no pain associated .....

4 weeks after the incident i called that sex worker again and she told me that she uses a latex condom of DUREX company.......on 22nd july(5th week after the encounter) i had my flight for tokyo...in a hotel in tokyo i saw some white patches at the back of my throat...which disappeared after drinking water.....i can still see that thing and it disapperas after drinking water......i also had very small redenning of skin on my arm...oner day later i had my flight for INDIA.
from then i m in INDIA where temperature is very high, higher than the last summer, and a drought has occured where i am living....
now i m in the 8th week, and i think i have some redenning in my throat though it is not painful yet.and those very small redennings have increased in the past two days, i also have headaches and sometimes i get sensations under my armpits and my groin area....i m very much worried and my life has become hell......all that sex thing was for fun and now it has ruined my life completely...

i have read that after 3 months of exposure one should get hiv tests done since they are more accurate then......

please guide me in this regard..i shall be very grateful to all you people.......

by kash1986, Aug 12, 2009 10:06AM
thanks sir

but I would like to know if a person can get HIV symptoms in 8th to 9th week after the exposure...

what are the possibilities that HIV symptoms get suppressed due to weather conditions, working conditions..etc

by kash1986, Aug 12, 2009 10:09AM
I am concerned because I am having headaches and nausea from the past few days and the small redennings on my skin are increasing ....

thanks

not indicative of ars.

if someone is experiencing symptoms of ars...it would come 2-4 weeks after infection and lasts for 1-2 weeks.

protected sex = NO RISK

by Vance2335, Aug 12, 2009 10:17AM
How can you have "symptoms" of HIV if you did not have a risk?

Hey,
Did u lost ur weight? (more than 10% of ur body weight)
Do you have diahorrea and headache and fever for 2 weaks atleast?
Do u have nausea (vomiting)?
Lymph nodes, are they paining and red color with more than 2 cms? they do happen
White spots may be after inflammatory infection?
did u lost appetite?
is ur body aching, tiredness?
its wrong to say tht u r having HIV +ve because remeber that condom sex is safer sex unless u put off ur condom and discharge ur self in her.
I got same problems when I got encounter with sex worker. I got lymph nodes in groin area and reddish skin ( which ws 'cellulitis').
They have much tension as compare to us as in ur case, she did ****** while u r having condom. Imagine how may people go there don't they think themselves even it is in CANADA.

SAFE SEX = NO RISK.

hiv +ve is situation when u can't even send a mail... buddy.. it's breakable to ur body.

try to calm... as i did.. because its nothing bad gonna happen..

cheers...

Stop posting minue and minute, we answer questions for free and on our own time.

For the last time, you did not have a risk. Why would your tests be anything but negative? Move on form this.

which test is more effective...........elisa 3.0 or western blot.....

because i ahve also given my blood for western blot test as the doctor told  that elisa test is not reliable........my elisa test was done after 80 days the event

by kash1986, Sep 14, 2009 11:56AM
and it was non reactive

by Vance2335, Sep 14, 2009 11:56AM
To let you know a WB is a confirmation test and is only used that way. An elisa test tests for antibodies and if positive a WB is done to confirm the elisa. The Elisa is the test that would be the best to take.

But in your situation you did not need to test. You have wasted time and money because you did not have a risk.

You have no reason to post anything more from this exposure, it was no risk.

yes vance i understand your concern...but the thing is i called the lady after 3 weeks from the event and asked about which condom did she used ....she told me that she usees condoms of durex ...when i enquired her about the material of the condom....i asked whether it was latex or polyurethane....first she didn't understand     but when i reasked she replied that it was latex.......i m concerened what if she told a lie....or she wasn't aware of the matter........though during the act she was very very careful...she tyold that no one touches her vagina,no anal, she told no kissing, she even used clothes on my lap......

what i m concerned about is that i m experiencing pain in my knee from the last two months....and headaches sometimes...lower jaw pain sometimes ....feeling of vomiting..

alsothere is consistent weakness from the past two months......i also had ear infection and some infection in my neck(i think)

regards

kash1986

so i thought to go for the tests

by Vance2335, Sep 14, 2009 12:13PM

kash, hiv doesnt transmit through casual contact, even if u licked a hiv tainted bloody spoon u cant get hiv assuming u dont have mouth ulcers ok, 80 days test is good, symptoms occur 2 to 3 weeks after infection, and they are not reliable some do not hav symptoms and some may require hospitalisation,ur problem is not hiv, only if elisa test is positive u need to go for wblot, because sometimes wblot can show false positive,to be sure test after 90days since ur exposure it will be negative and u can rest ok.

hi

I started believing my negaive test result as conclusive ...but now i m seeing that i have some swollen lymph nodes(i think)....there are two in the upper part of my neck(these are from the start....4 weeks after the sex)...now few days ago ..i see one node each(relatively small, relative to taht in my neck)behind my ears....and yesterday i developed the same type beneath my left ear....

also i think i have some problem inmy ear...and neck...

should i stop believing my test result and do my test again....

does these results have anything to do with the index of the tests
elisa was of 3.0 index value   non reactive
western blot was of 0.19 index value    non reactive..

help me...

now I have got lymph nodes(seemingly) in my right elbow ...there is a large plate like structure there at the bottom which came after a burning sensation..also the nodes that came under my chin 4 weeeks after my exposure are still intact there...however the smaller ones beneath my ears are gone

i am extremely terrified ...i think something surely has gone wrong....it may be possible that i didn't ahve enough antibodies to be detected at the end of 12 weeks...or the test used are not sensitive enough(probably they used that of a lower generation)....

if i have nothing then why do i get these symptoms..

hlp me through ...

thanks

by LIZZIE LOU, Nov 08, 2009 07:53AM
see your doctor if you are having health problems...IT'S NOT HIV RELATED.

you have a conclusive test result...this forum has nothing left to offer.  kindly move on.
