condom leakage risk rate

by ryan81, Aug 09, 2008 12:21AM
Hi Dr,
i had protected vaginal sex with a sex-worker. umfortunately i found a 1cm diameter hole in my condom. it was found before i ejaculate. so both of us have a short talk. she told me that she had a regular weekly medical check-up with quarterly blood test and claimed that she is clean.
I'm worry about how high risk i'm of infected HIV?

A 1 cm hole did not put you at risk....

NO risk.

Btw, how did you even locate a hole that size?

by ryan81, Aug 09, 2008 02:40AM
i also have no idea. just when we going to change position, the gal told me my condom broke already. then i put water into the condom and found one hole with around 5mm to 1cm.
maybe lousy condom but i sure the condom is not exceed the expired date.
so i'm safe thought with the leakage of small hole?
advice needed badly.
suffer with this for more than 5 days......

Sorry, I no mean to hijack anybody's thread, but ryan81's condom failure of only 1 cm is bit disturbing for all others here who are in similar situation. I been told by everyone here that when condom break, it break fully, but then how you explain this?

ryan81, I don't know much about HIV risk, but I am in similar situation as you except I never check condom after sex, so I never know if anything wrong with it or not. But I understand how you feel bcoz I also may have has failure in my condom and never know about it. Everyone here keep telling all worried protected people that if condom break, then it visible to us, but you're case is proof that it NOT like that sometimes.

when i found that one small hole, i also have no idea how to explain that.
It really make me a big worry. thus, after that i get advice from a doctor and according to him, the chance of HIV infected still consider very very low, but not 100%.
i' wondering how true is it and suddenly i found this useful forum, a lot of useful information here. thus wish to get advice or input through this.

Teak: What if this is truth? How can you say Bullsh*t? Just because failure isn't obvious, you call it BS? how can all experts here assume that failure always obvious?

Ryan81: Which brand is condom from? If this is not true and you're making this up then please just be honest, not scaring people like me here on forum.

It's total BS, condoms if they fail, fail catastrophically. They don't just get a small hole in the condom. They are designed to fail catastrophically.

by ryan81, Aug 09, 2008 05:36AM
i not sure what's the brand but the condom from the gal.
it's happened, a hole in the condom, i really have no idea how it happened. but i'm not try to ask how condom can fail with have a hole but i'm concern about risk of HIV infected with a condom leakage (if still not believe just a hole).

by Teak, Aug 09, 2008 06:12AM
You were already told you didn't have a risk. There is nothing more to tell you.

i think it is obvious when it is obvious beacuse then you notice it but it might happend that it was small and you wouldn't notice

We can tell you've never dealt with a failed condom and or unexperenced with condoms.

And you're causing anxiety problems for all worried people here who use condom as well, please dont be so selfish to post unaccurate information like this.
