cuts and handshakes

Hi - Firstly after reading around can I say what a great job you do.

Yesterday I shook hands with an aids affected guy (I didn't know this until later on)
Before doing so I had managed to give myself two paper cuts on my fingers on the palm side of the hand and close to my nails. I didn't really notice them until after I had shaken hands and noticed some blood on my fingers when I went back to do some work. I also have a large scratch mark just up from my thumb.
What are my chances of catching the infection and should I get tested. I couldn't sleep at all last night and since then I must have washed my hand about 10 times.

you were not at risk.  the hiv virus is not "on his skin"...geeeeeeeeeeez.

Thanks for answering so quickly and to be honest I really don't know much about the virus. What though if some of the blood was his that had got on to my handsand into my fingers etc? I am trying not to be paranoid but it seemed quite a bit of blood for two small cuts.

you know good and well that paper cuts bleed like hell.  you stated that YOU had the paper cuts...dont start with the "what ifs".  you were not at risk of contracting hiv from shaking his hand.

Ok I take your point and I am trying desperatly not to go down that road of "what ifs" but I just want to make it clear that if it was his blood into my cut could I be at risk? I don't mean to be a pain.
