I was exposed to HIV in Liberia, West Africa about a year ago. Upon returning to America I had an hiv test, and another one about 5 and 1/2 months later. both were negative, but now i am reading about HIV 2 and subtypes of HIV 1. I just had something called HIV 1 and 2 screen, which includes antibody tests for both HIV 1 and HIV 2 as well as something called OD ratio. My question is, will these tests cover all types I could have been exposed to, such as group O? Also, what does OD ratio mean? Thank you.
