i took hiv elisa , classic sandwich test in December 15 which come back non-reactive
people advice me to change the test type ,
so i had hiv1-hiv2 ag-ab test a few days after the elsia December 22, it come back negative
is there is any possibility to be infected with hiv at all ?, why they say here non-reactive at the first one but negative at the second,is there is a difference between both results?,why i still have the swollen glands\ lymph nodes swollen in my neck & i still have the sore throat so far?
AG would appear within 1-4 weeks after infection and then drop off while AB is being formed. At 8 weeks it would have dropped to zero and only AB would be expected if you were infected. At 8 weeks, virtually 100% of infected people test POS for ABS. The 4th generation tests are designed for EARLY testing, so you would have been better off with just an AB test at 8 weeks.
However, It's not a meaningless result- most people on this forum considers an AB test at that time as a good 'indicator' of status, but not the final word because all antibody tests on the market are approved by the FDA to give a CONCLUSIVE result at 3 months and no earlier, which is why you were recommended a CONFIRMATORY test.
If I were in your situation I wouldn't be concerned about a 3 month confirmatory test changing, given the observed accuracy of the antibody tests at 8 weeks. Hope this helps.
Forget about symptoms because they are not the 3 classic ARS symptoms anyway, the DUO test you had at 2 months is 99.99999999% accurate, follow up at 3 months for a final result that will be negative.
i read a little about HIV symptoms before i go for the test , i found it the fever, the headache, muscle pain, the glands\throat\lymph nodes.
are you sure that those are not the symptoms,?.why they give me one negative & one non reactive?
Non reactive means negative and please read "what's the best HIV test" by Dr Jose Garcia and read what he says about the DUO TEST.I would strongly advise you to listen to him as he is an expert and no one on this forum has the knowledge that he has on the subject of testing and HIV.
Your 3 month post exposure test will give you your conclusive test result.
There are no tests marketed or sold that will give a conclusive negative test result earlier than 3 months post exposure.
so even th AG\AB negative means just nothing ??
do you mean that , because it was in 2 months period only ,
i have heard that it can detect the infection earlier ?
what do you think ??

thank you for your rich answer,
i think i have to wait till the end of Jan then i can do another test,
it will be much beteer for all,
also thanks again for your recommendation at the end , i'm just worried cause i have the swollen lymph for almost 2 months now & the doctor don't know where it come from :(
For the last time,it is a proven fact that an HIV DUO test is 99.89% accurate at 4 weeks and further testing should only be considered and discussed with your doctor, there are no doctors or experts on this community forum. It is totally your choise if you want to take the advice of the doctors in the expert forum,it's your right as a human being. If your doctor suggests you follow up at 12 weeks then do so.
i understand your explanation,
but the 4th generation tests also check for AB as well as check for ag , ( am i correct ) .. ?
so even if i cross the 8'th week or before it ( after the 4'th week ) the HIV AG\AB test will give me a conclusive result , after the 4'week ?? .. am i correct ?
