extreme anxiety, please help

i have always been paranoid about HIV, especially after ive read about all the symptoms,
i recently got tested for a hj and i was negative. im just scared now because what if they used an old needle to withdraw my blood, because a week and a half later i get a bad cough and a sore throat and it hasnt gone away
i have pharyngitis and im scared because its a symptom of being infected with HIV and my lymph nodes are starting to hurt. Even if they used the same needle, isnt it different when they withdraw blood as opposed to injecting like drug users, idk any advice would really help.........

Its a little diferent Lizzie a Dr. is charging you for a service that he accepts to provide, no one can force a Dr to review a patient, and he should provide the best service, if he does that just to get them off his/her arse, then he is malpracticing becouse he/she should know that western blot is only a confirmatory assay, not a routine test.  at least he could have a refund

I find it easy to prove since WB's are used for confirmation not regular screening. Way different from a botched heart surgery.

Its at least worth a shot to talk to a lawyer about.

omg...dont get him started on that.  it would never hold up in court.  malpractice is not an easy thing to prove...i know...my dad died from a botched heart bypass surgery.

Well at least you can make some money of it, I`ll sue that Dr. for miscaring/mispractice (I dont know how is said in english in spanish is mala practica medica), since the CDC and the whole world guidelines state that a Western Blot should never been done in the abscence of at least one positive elisa, becouse of iseveral technical reasons, That DR, indeed screw up your life, you`ll need help to erase those fears of your mind, so maybe at elast he can pay for your therapy that indeed is needed.

Good luck, move on

Go sue your doctor for malpractice and emotional distress. There was no reason for him to give you a WB after a negative antibody test and it apparently set you off in a bad way.

You need to see a therapist and maybe get on anxiety medication.

yah, im shure ur right lizzie, theres no way i have hiv, in the past 6 months ive been tested 10 different times and everytime ive thought i had HIV and its always been negative, if u all look at my history of HIV anxiety, my mind really got screwed up when a doctor gave me a western blot after a negative hiv test(probably to make money)
and that changed my normal mind for good because my p24 was reactive and i lived a month of my life thinking i have HIV, ive never been able to get back to normal, but all of you r right, ive had no risk, and im wasting my life worrying about it, thanks to all of you......

dr hansfield says it best:  "this is not a psychological counseling service"

you have been on and off this forum for at least 6 months...with some kind of situation or another.  it is time for you to take responsiblity for your health..both physically and mentally.

you have been here long enough to know the do's and dont's regarding hiv.  there is nothing that you can ask that you "really" dont already know the answer to.

what you need to "accept" is that your thinking is irrational and it is apparent to everyone that has tried to help you...that there are underlying issues here.  we cannot help you with those issues bamn...only YOU can do that.

stop this nonsense and seek treatment.

I am not a doc nor do i have much experience in the field. but even I can tell thast over anxiety is not good, and maybe you should seek counselling to calm your nerves and can live life properly without worrying too much.

if u have pharyngitis, then ur sore throat and sore lymph nodes can be explained. Also, from what I have read and have been told , the swollen lymph nodes are _very_ prominent for ars. they are quite huge and they bulge out.

go see a doctor regarding your pharyngitis. and relax a little. peace.
