I have not been in any situation where I received a positive false test. I was just asking in general. I as well don't understand your explanation, bill220. The only part I understood was, "I don't want to make you more sick" but thank you Teak, for NOT making me "sick" and relieving my stress!:)
False positive does happen from time to time, false negative on the other hand is extremely rare (provided that you get tested 3 months post-exposure). There is about 1% chance that the body will develop the same antibodies as HIV's antibodies for certain other diseases which will then react to HIV test. This is why a positive result needs to be confirmed with other tests, while a negative result doesn't.
