fellation and viral load

by lach44, Oct 30, 2007 08:53PM
Dear Dr.

Assuming that the risk of being infected throgh the act of fellatio with hiv infected person is  1:10000 , will this probability figure vary with the degree of  the feamal's viral load?

You're in the wrong forum for this, but it doesn't really matter.  For HIV to enter your bloodstream there has to be exposure to an infected fluid which then might possibly enter you.  Saliva doesn't contain HIV or if it does its in such a minute amount to not even worry about.

Think about the millions of people who kiss every day.  They don't get HIV from their HIV+ positive partners

Viral load or not, the risk is still the same

worriedaboutears is right, in your case the viral load is not an issue. Yes the degree of the female's viral load does become an issue in more risky situations.
