This site is the only reliable advisor with people equipped with updated and true knowledge. So once again I need your help. My brother came to visit me for his mid-term holiday.We went to a barber together.My brother asked for a shave with old type straight razors.The guy started and cut him deep.Then I noticed he did not change the razor.Used the same one with the previous customer.We argued and the barber confessed his mistake.(told there has been 5 or 7 minutes between my brother and previous customer)Is my brother at great risk for hiv?I can not believe these kind of senseless people. I should comfort him or warn him after receiving your comments.

For what its worth, Ive been reasearching this disease non-stop on the net for about 5 weeks now.  I believe HIV only survives outside the body for about 1-2 mins tops...Plus most barbers put the razors in antiseptic fluid between customers so even if he didnt change blades chances are he dipped it in the antiseptic fluid after the last shave... Of course ill defer to the real experts on this forum.

Depending upon which country this incident happened-- I would definitely check for Hepatitis. Not sure on HIV....

The reason I asked the country because in some 3rd world countries, barbers and dentists have been the biggest source of spreading Hep.
