frottage/rubbing possible cut

by SILVERBOX, Apr 18, 2009 12:02PM
Will try to keep question simple without much drama. Would like to know the risk level of frottage/rubbing penis against outside of vagina and contacting wet secretions. The period of exposure was less than 10 seconds. Would also like to know if risk assessment is impacted by possible abrasion on penis from the rubbing inside pants before being exposed

Level of risk is zero, regardless of abrasions on penis.

No penetration = no risk.

Ditto ! As what joggen righltly said

It is 8 months past the incident of brief unprotected rubbing and I am experiencing symptoms such as flaking skin, joint pain, decreased energy and some shortnes of breath. I would like to know if  these are signs of infection and weakened immune system.

by Teak, Apr 20, 2009 10:20AM
You were never at risk of contracting HIV. If you have a concern with your signs and symptoms see a doctor, it has nothing to do with HIV.

I very much appreciate you taking the time to provide your comments. I am trying, somewhat unsuccessfully thus far, to tell myself that my thoughts are running the show. When worry is prolonged it takes on its own meaning.

"When worry is prolonged it takes on its own meaning. "

WELL SAID!

Anxiety can cause some very real problems, including manifestation into physical symptoms.  The quicker you can get your anxiety in check...the quicker all of the problems will fade away!

I'm in the same boat and I've spent the past 3 weeks running myself into the ground over an incident that carried no risk.  You are absolutely right about the mind taking over, you just need to remind yourself of one simple thing: "no penetration, no risk."  The hardest part is convincing yourself that in the presence of a stupid act, the absence of risk may still exist.

Best of luck and thank you to all of the forum members whose compassion and advice helps us move on.

Although yours was in MA and mine in GA we seem to have virtually identical risk scenarios. It is so tough to leave the worry when symptoms seem to continue to appear. It is probably impossible to accept no risk if worry makes a person view things as symptoms

Hey, don't worry about anything. Your case is same as mine. I have asked many doctors and in the forum the question and the answer were that No Sexual Intercourse= No Risk.. Just relax your mind though it is difficult i know. I can suggest you one way, Do meditation, find some cool music and sit and try to focus on the music.. This will relax your mind. DO it twice a day.....Am sure you will be fine soon......God bless

I really want to follow your advice. My incident was in GA otherwise the same rubbing/frottage and possible abrasion. I find myself thinking that different things happening to my body are symptoms of a compromised immune system. Worry seems very real and perhaps 'theoretical risk' means it can happen

HIV is not transmitted outside its host. You were never at risk of contracting HIV.

I very much appreciate your input. If possible would you kindly clarify why direct rubbing is considered "outside its host". I am hoping better understanding on my part will make it easier to accept and believe the analysis of no risk. Thanks

please take the advice that you were given and "move on" with your life.

this type question has been answered hundreds of times...both on this AND the expert forums.

at NO time were you at risk from the situation that you are describing.  plain and simple...hiv is transmitted through:  unprotected vaginal and/or anal PENETRATION, sharing iv drug works, mother to child.  as you can see, your situation does not fit into any of those categories.

I have another symptom, however, I think I think that some of the folks here will state it can't be a symptom if there was no risk.

I have a slightly different question, would various body/skin/eye symptoms start within the first year. There is so much information on the Internet and things become confusing

Folks it is not my intention to be a pain. Living in a fairly rural area in the south there are not lots of places for reliable information. I respect you and the time and effort you provide. It is a difficult time and I thought this was a forum for ongoing dialouge. Your input has been of assistance

by LIZZIE LOU, May 08, 2009 09:12AM
the purpose of this forum:

"If you believe you have been exposed to HIV and want help to judge your risk, would like advice about HIV testing, or have questions about the effectiveness of condoms or risks associated with specific sexual practices, this is the site for you."

you have been advised that you were never at risk from the situation that you have provided.

This was a long day. It seems like a good time to express appreciation to those here who provide straight forward objective information and refuse to engage in emotionally driven fear dialouge. You are dedicated and it is appreciated even if doesn't appear obvious on the surface.

I have a condition called "dry eye" in one eye. It says HIV is a common cause. I am 8 months post the frottage/rubbing exposure and terrified. Perhaps others know something about dry eye as an HIV symptom. I am so confused about the no risk information. Perhaps I should post my questions on the expert forum

GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEAD...YOU DONT HAVE HIV "BECAUSE" YOU WERE NEVER AT RISK.

WE ARE DONE HERE AND DONT NEED A REPORT OF EVERY HEALTH PROBLEM THAT YOU ENCOUNTER...SEE A DOCTOR FOR THAT.

by SILVERBOX, Jun 26, 2009 02:21AM
The struggle with fear continues. Perhaps someone can explain why rubbing genitals doesn"t pose risk and how it is different from inside the body. Sure seems like fluid, rubbing abrasion is a risk scenario. Meanwhile the symptoms continue to mount
