had contact with an HIV person

by adriano25, Jul 27, 2009 08:12AM
Dear Doctor,

Today are 5 weeks since I've had a one off sexual encouter. I am a gay man sexually bottom. We started off by him relaxing me a lot, fingering, rimming, as I am still quite tight and he has a 9' penis. When we started penetration we did it using a condom. However, later he took the condom off and re-assured me that him being a married man, is safe. The contact it self without the condom was very short, aprox 30 sec, he took it out and ejaculated on my back. Immediately after, I went to the toilet to clean myself and I noticed no marks of blood on the paper (from my anus). Few days after he told me that he was HIV + and the fact that his viral load is undetactable (neglijable) and that the risk for me to get infected are incredibly low. I am scared to go and take a test. Ive been consulting forums and sites a lot but now and then I still get very worried and down about it all. I am worried now because I've noticed a white mark on my upper gums (on the left). Mind you, last year I was referred by my dentist to see a specialist for a biopsy because he noticed my white marks in my mouth. The results were ok, since then I had an HIV test in February and was negative. I am worried as today I just read about HIV symptoms again and found out about the Thrush you can have in your mouth and its similar to my present condition. I dont recollect any other major symptoms as I always feel tired, mainly in the mornings, i have diarreea now and then or a softer ****.

Please advise me what are the chances to get the virus after my stupid experience. I had this one off experience in my life because I discovered that my bf was cheating on me with a rent boy whilst he was travelling, hence I was furious and looked for sex in the evening when I found out. Is it likely to get infected even though its just one of mistake?

Thanks,
A

sounds like you have explained away the white marks in your mouth...you had them BEFORE.

you allowed this guy to penetrate you "unprotected".  for that decision, you will need to test.   doing a test 6-8 weeks after exposure will give you a good indication of your status...but a test at 3 months will give you a conclusive result.

does the fact that he didnt ejaculate in you AND that his viral load is undetectable help?  it lessens the chance...LESSENS...it does NOT diminish the chance.

test to know your status.

(and by the way...his 9 inch penis is not a concern of this forum)

Thanks for your answer. Sorry about mentioning the size of the penis, all i wanted to say that he was big and i couldnt see or feel any damaged being done to me right after.

In circumstances like mine, what do you think the risk is?

Thanks

Please Lizzie Lou, I am panicked for 5 weeks now and I feel how my life is ending really. What are the risks of getting it in my situation 1 out of 10 please?

1 out of 10?  you've got to be kidding ! ! ! !

you had unprotected sex...you test.   the only way to know your status is by testing.

If you believe you have been exposed to HIV and want help to judge your risk, would like advice about HIV testing, or have questions about the effectiveness of condoms or risks associated with specific sexual practices, this is the site for you.

YOU HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT YOU PUT YOURSELF AT RISK FOR HIV BY HAVING UNPROTECTED ANAL SEX.  YOU HAVE ALSO BEEN ADVISED THAT YOU NEED TO TEST.

The best thing for you to do is to test and get this over with. You've had unprotected receptive sex with a HIV+ man - there is a significant chance that you are infected. Sorry to tell you that.

hi regularjoey,

even if the penetration wasnt a complete one, no ejaculation, his viral load is undetactable and there were no signs of blood? since you wrote me your message i cant sleep, work, do anything. I dont have the courage to face a test. please help my confidence which is very low right now. in my mind i now believe i have all the possible symptoms. what can i do and what are the chances to get infected please?

Testing is the only way you'll know your status. Use condoms..
