haven't slept for 5 nights now...

haven't slept for 5 nights now...

Thanks in advance to anyone who can come up with a factual and helpful answer...

7 nights ago i gave unprotected oral sex to a stripper, who i also believe is a sex worker and quite possibly HIV positive. I never knew of the risks that this could bring....
I had a few cuts on my toungue and cheeks (quite fresh too). It went on for 10 minuites. Was heavily drunk at the time too, so do not remember if she came in my mouth. since the next morning i have had severe chills, night sweats and overall sweating, severe fatigue, muscle pains, and most off all severe tremors and constant shaking. Have not slept at all for 5 nights due to the constant shaking and tremors preventing me from going to sleep. It feels like constant electric shocks going through the whole body. Do i have HIV systoms? Have there ever been any real documented cases where someone has caught HIV through this act?

Thanks again, look forward to seeing any responses.

What you have is anxiety and nothing more. To start symptoms of anything never come on that quick, for HIV is it at least 2 weeks if one gets symptoms. Second what you did is not a risk for HIV.

My advice is to seek a therapist to help you deal with this anxiety and don't worry about HIV from the above incident.

Oh and for your last question, no there have not been a verified case of someone getting HIV from giving oral sex to a woman or man for matter of fact. Document and verified are very different. Documented means someone said this or that. Verified is without doubt that is the only way some one could have gotten it and several studies have shown HIV is not a risk with oral sex.

HIV does not cause electrical shocks through your body.  HIV also would not cause illness the morning after an incident.

Vaginal fluids and saliva both create a poor environment for HIV because of a very slight acidity and also enzymes (catalysts) in saliva that break down the HIV virus.

Thanks Vance2335 and jhguy011.

I understand what you are both saying but are you are saying i can completely clear my mind of this and there is completely NO risk at all, or is there some risk but so small that you would say it's not worth worrying about anymore??? The reason i ask this is because i have looked at hundreds of websites and phoned 3 or 4 support lines over the last 5 days, and all resources have said there is a risk with oral sex. ESPECIALLY if you are the person giving and not recieving like i was......

Again thanks for any responses...

I cannot control what other "resources" say.  Oral sex is not a risk for HIV.

ok thanks. The final thing i forgot to add was is that i did go to see my doctor and he said theres a small risk and it's worth getting tested. After seeing your responses though im not sure if i should even do this now.... They also said it's worth testing for any STI's... What do you think... Should i do these tests to put my mind at rest or would you say it makes no difference at all. Sorry if this question is making you repeat yourself slightly... I think this will be the last one.

Your doctor is not educated in HIV transmission.

Ok thanks Teak, i'll try and move on now... Though one thing still bugging me is that i've read similar situations on here about people being prescribed PEP after performing oral sex.... So why would doctors be able to prescribe these drugs if there is no risk. It doesn't make sence...

so why would doctors "be able" to prescribe pep?  they have no one to answer to on that.  having a medical degree does not make one educated and up to date on hiv transmission and testing.

The CDC and most doctors still follow very outdated 1980s ideas of what can transmit HIV.  The CDC still claims that kissing an HIV-positive person is a risk.  If you do not live in a vacuum, you might notice that during the last thirty years the federal government has mostly been controlled by conservative Republicans who have no desire to take away the stigma of being HIV-positive.

There are at least three studies that I know of that showed a 0% transmission rate of HIV with tens of thousands of incidents of oral sex.  For something to happen at a 0% rate in statistics three times is huge.

I encourage you to move on with your life, so that you do not waste months of it wasting worry on something that is not real.

Hi, i just had to add this...
It's coming up to 3 weeks since my exposure and since yesterday i have been experiencing strange symptoms that i have never had before. Mainly uclers in the mouth, dry cough and a soar throat, note that i never have a soar throat on it's own, it is normally with a blocked nose ect. Also extreme fatigue, swollen lymph nodes and have lost a lot of weight. Also a few spots and bruises and appeared around some parts of my body. I still believe every factor was against me on this exposure-
1. Had cuts in mouth and while performing i cut my toungue several times as my teeth are not straight at the bottom, this may have provided an entry.
2. My immune system must have very low as i was very run down at the time, had a slight cold, and had a lot of alcohol the day before and on the actuall night.
3. As this occured in a very seedy strip club on the outskirts of london and it was a 30 year old latvian stripper who could not speak much english, im almost certain that she would have been involved in the sex industry and drugs ect for a long time in latvia and in london.
4. It was very agressive oral.. Could definitely feel liquids of some sort present and was pretty much in full contact with her vagina for 10 minuites without stopping. I do now remember her cumming in my mouth a little too.
Questions-
Assuming she was positive and after taking these points into condsideration is it still a low risk/no risk?
Considering the UK states it's a 1, 10,000 chance can i still be fairly confident that i was never at risk?
If she was an IV drug user (i have it in my head that she was heavily into drugs) would this make transmission even easier to occur?

As this was the only sexual activity i've ever had, and im only 18 im sure people can understand my constant worry and concern. I also have to say that lack of sleep, food and not being able to concentrate on anything else has lost me my job.
It would be fantastic if anyone replied to this though im not expecting it as i've already asked a few questions... I should have written this as my first post.
