hiv ag/ab test at 28 days

helloo, doctor.. please help me , please...
first i had an unprotected vaginal intercourse -with a russian girl i knew online it was jst one time n it was for 3 mintues max, also i ejaculated inside also i was shaving before this intercourse by 2 days and i had a cut beside my penis, on my balls, but i think on that intercourse the blood was dry.
.., anyway the point is this happened on the 2nd of april, then after that by 1 week i made an hiv ag/ab CMIA test and it came back negative also this lab "have equipmets from ABBOTT and ROCHE for the immunoassay here is one of the equipments ARCHITECT ci8200,soo i was freaking out i couldnt work n i couldnt do anything in my life, soo i told her online to make an hiv test, then she freaked out, she made an hiv test after 2 weeks, n she told me she never had this most dangerous disease n then she said to me her result came back negative n i dnt have to worry, bt am also worried bec i got a feeling that i shouldnt believe her, then after the exposure by 28 days, exactly at the 28th (4 weeks) that was on the 1st of april i made another test the same duo-->hiv ag/ab CMIA 4th generation and the result came back as follows Negative   NEGATIVE.. for both the antigiens and the antibodies...
1. can i knw what is my risk for catching hiv?
2. is the result at 28 days for the fourth generation duo test is conclusive.?
3.do i have to test again at 12 weeks, or the test at 8 or 9 weeks is enough.?
4. what is my chances that the results of my tests would change.?
5.doctor all am worried about now is what if this cut was opened still, would it show if i got hiv at the 28th day or not?

thank you very much doctor and please help, i cant go on with my life i also dream that i have hiv, i think am gonna kill my self from the anxiesty that i have, thanks again

Welcome to the HIV forum.

You really can relax about this. The level of fear you express -- both directly and in the overall tone of your question -- really is unjustified.  You had a low risk exposure, because it was statistically unlikely your partner had HIV, even before she was tested; and her negative test result proves you were not exposed to HIV.  (She probably was telling the truth about her HIV status and test result; most people don't lie about it.)  To your specific questions:

1) I judge this as a zero risk situtation for HIV, given the nature of the contact and the fact of your partner's negative HIV test 2 weeks after the exposure.

2) Mostly we agree with Teak's advice on the community forum.  However, he is mistaken about the Duo test, i.e. combined test for HIV antibody and p24 antigen.  A negative Duo test at 28 days is virtually 100% proof against a new HIV infection.  Your test result proves you weren't infected.

3,4) You don't need any more testing at all. But if you decide you need still more reassurance, have a repeat antibody test at 3 months. The result will not change.

5) Get this straight:  Whatever the risk was at the time of your exposure -- from the cut or anything else -- does not matter.  Even if you had intentionally injected yourself with HIV infected blood (the highest risk of all possible exposures), your test results show you were not infected.

The level of anxiety you express is simply not normal in this situation.  If your irrational fears continue -- and they truly are irrational -- then you will need to consider professional counseling about it.  I suggest it out of compassion, not criticism.

Let's not have any further discussion.  If you have a repeat HIV test, feel free to return with a comment to tell me the result.  Other that that, this thread is over; I will have no further comments or advice.

Regards--  HHH, MD

You can rely on the negative test results.   Having HSV-1 is not abnormal and in the absence of symptoms does not require treatment.  If you need more information about it, use the herpes expert forum or the herpes community forum.

That's all for this thread.
