hiv and sharing toothbrush

hello everybody.please help me with this... we were on holiday, with a friend, hiv status unknown, but promiscuous, and former iv drug user... therefore i am always quite careful because of my kid especially. but they were playing together only for a few minutes, the friend was packing his luggage that time and oscar, our son, took his toothbrush and cleaned his teeth with it! when i saw it i nearly died of fear... (stressed mum:() what is the risk if he is hiv positive? he was washing his teeth a few minutes before packing. i am so stressed about it... our son is only 20 month old... and his teeth are just growing so the gums more sensitive etc... please help. thanx a lot!

The risk of hiv infection frrom the situation you describe is zero because the hiv virus becomes inactive and unable to infect as soon as it is exposed to the air.Your son is safe.
